"...a stock S might be worth a bit more to an S owner to have as a spare."

i think this was kevin/umw view when it came to telling me these are very valuable...

not just because it's +hp...but for the collector who might want 'spare' oem s unit.

FWIW - I recently bought a new 964 ECU from Sunset. Cost about $2,200 after "trade in" of old unit, about $2,900 without. WHile there were only 3 left in Germany, I understand that when they are gone they simply ask for more to be manufactured for them.

Default Turbo S ECU

I checked not too long ago with Gert in Belgium for a 450hp ECU
P/N 993.618.689.85 (turbo S or GT2) is 6000 Euro's from the factory and in stock.

Will work only with K24 turbo's. Stock 993tt ECU can be upgrade to the ECU .85 specs.

My mech was all over the place. He was calling the ecu a dme chip but referenced it being under the seat (therefore the ecu NOT a dme relay of some sort under the frunk?) He said it didn't look like anything he had seen before and was pulling erratic codes. Where as when I would plug in my cheap scan tool I was only getting P1140. I worry about getting the correct codes and CA smog compliance. I passed smog but had the reset code troubles initially.

So he sent it (ECU?) off to get looked at by somebody in Florida and they said all was well with it. If I get a clean bill of health on the car next time in and verify this ecu issue, I'm debating pulling the trigger on getting a stock ecu and somehow putting my name on it or recording the serial number. These original ecu's are what people like to steal and put cheaper aftermarket ones in - I think.

But to get back on topic - mentioned above by another rlister and Pelican parts website new old stock 993 Turbo's ecu's from factory are $6000+ it sounds. IIRC Fabspeed has there own for $3000 or so.

Not sure there are any plug and play ECUs for the 933tt other than the OEM Bosch/Porsche units - I think you have have some misinformation. But more than happy to be corrected.

You can buy a new stock 408 bhp ECU for about $3500 from the likes of Gaudin Porsche

Yeah. I'm not entirely sure. I don't want to bog down the thread with bad info.

This is the type of unit I thought we were talking about:

Not planning on anything specific, I like to collect things...
I have my stock (I'm the second owner and had to drill out the security bolts to get at it so know it has not been tampered with), UMW stage 2, protomotive k24/catless (with the resistor network), and now the Andial twin plug/fvd unit. I also have 2 engines now (also not for sale) so my ecu/engine ratio is the same as you! Ryojo

That's a factory ECU removed from a 1997 US spec car - you can tell that from the VIN number.

Felix, this is a factory ECU for US spec car?
(993.618.666.10)

I thought the ECU # was 993.618.689.85?
Or is that ROW only?

Are the US spec Turbos K16's or K24's?

Would you happen to know the correct P/N for US spec cars?
Are they;
993.123.013.82 Left
993.123.014.82 Right

Thank you

Which part of my statement is unclear?

689 85 is the ECU for K24s.

The K16/K24 question for different markets has been done to death on this forum - search is your friend.

The turbo part numbers can be found in the PET pdf.
