Default Need tire suggestions for some special new wheels

I recently managed to purchase a very rare set of Champion RS184 wheels. I believe that Champion only made 2-3 sets of these in 18" sizes before moving on to 19". They are Mg & incredibly light - specs are 8.5 ET40 front & 12 ET45 rear.

I've searched on this section, though I didn't really find a clear answer on tire sizes. I'm thinking 235/40 front & 315/30 rear, though also wondering if I could use 295/30 if the 12" wheel doesn't stretch the sidewall to much. My car has PSS10's set to around RS height. Anyone have good experience they can share?

Here are the wheels - fresh from a refinish by my trusty wheel guy (he was able to match the original paint color perfectly):

Hi,

295/30ZR18 as referenced from tirerack Sumo HTRZ 10-11" wheel width

315/30ZR18 as ref from tirerack Mich PS2 N4(Porsche) 10.5-11.5" wheel width.

you may need to go up for that big rear wheel width. If so assuming you need to roll fenders with the 12" et 45.

Ok, so any thoughts on wheels you want to part with? From a wanna be wheel ho

Most manufacturer specs have about 11" as the widest the 295's should be mounted, with a range of 10"-11" mounting width. The 315's show 11.5" as rec. max mounting width. Sounds like you may find it difficult to find tires. You know that's a headache you really don't need. Tell you what, I'll take the rims off your hands so you don't have to worry about it :-)

Pretty sure 315's are fine on 12's, I think that was factory on 996 gt2's, & maybe gt3's.

I had a good set of front Pirelli's in garage & was thinking about rears & found these pretty cheap, if they still stock, it's the lowest price N rated 315.

Beautiful wheels, make sure you share photos when you get them installed.

One centercap is mismatched... As punishment you are required to sell me the wheels if you tire of them in the future....

Enjoy the new wheels
consider
245-40
and
315-30
I'm happy with my Kumhos in that size on my 9" and 11" Kinesis wheels.
Diameters keep my viscous coupling happy too.
Good street tyres, probably not as good as AD08 for AX / DE.

Just a cautionary tale about magnesium wheels: Ruf has recalled all of their magnesium wheels due to a propensity for cracking. The Champion wheels may be fine, but be aware.
