Default Typical upgrades for 993tt

I couldn't find a thread that discusses common weaknesses for 993tt and typical upgrades/enhancements. Would anyone speak to issues typical owners address or paste a link to a prior thread?

Thank you

Some will say removal of engine tray for better cooling and oil leak detection.

I mounted a Halon fire extinguisher to the passenger seat.

How about turbos, clutch, heater motor, brakes/rotors, valve cover gasket - were any of these weak areas and/or receive updates/upgrades frequently?

Of the list from others so far, not sure what 'oil return lines' need updating...

turbos if you want more power/also need ecu/might need fpr/external boost controller depending on what system you go with.

clutch if slipping, don't really need it for most of the bolt on power upgrades despite what people say and you're driving reasonably

brakes/rotors are pretty good unless tracking a lot but can get away with good brake fluid and pads

valve cover gasket - I suppose if you're leaking.

boost hoses, the orange ended ones are better

List is actually endless as far as I can tell depending on your budget...

I am going to be an old grump and suggest something to "wsf80" - there are many threads about this in both the 993 NA and 993 Turbo sections - so how you start to formulate a list gathered from the search attempts and post it here? That would be a double winner - you will learn way more about the items than just us suggesting them, and perhaps it may become the master reference list.

Cheers,

Mike

Hoses.... If you're upping the pressure on these, the apparent weak link is old rubber. Replace all rubber that is subjected to boost pressure. Check all vacuum connections and their rubber fittings. Small cracks that aren't addressed will rob small amounts of power until they become obvious. By then you have lost large amounts of power. 16-17 years on rubber subjected to heat, cold, fluids and pressure get tired. ..... Maybe that's what's wrong with my back or maybe I'm just tired. Good luck and enjoy

BTW ... The oil lines are the supply lines. They can be upgraded with check valves (aftermarket) and Kevin advised he's ramping up production of his "return lines" which help with the other side of the oil siphoning problems on these cars.

I apologize if this exists I searched various key words but didn't find anything.

Items I have found to address weaknesses are:
1. Replace/upgrade turbos
2. Replace clutch with lightened flywheel variant
3. Heater motors
4. Valve cover gasket
5. Oil return lines
6. The earlier point about better leak detection via removal of engine tray

Then you get into mods like exhaust, lowered springs, etc.

I agree that 993 turbo upgrades and preventative maintenance is all but "settled science" so I agree it's not a new question, but still, I don't know of a "master" list, so it would be great to compile a "best of" with product and vendor. Maybe we can update it every year and publish a new thread of updates to identify "maintenance" and "best of" upgrades.
