Bump for a great car!!! Guys I tried at length to try and buy this car and just can't make it work for me financially to get it here to California. I would like to say that the owner is a stand up guy, and the car is really a nice example. Who ever does get this car will be very lucky. Anyone that knows of a blue TT for sale in the States with sport seats, please let me know!!!

Just saw the car yesterday and I concour! Besides Sean being a gracious person, the car is spectacular in person. The engine purrs, very smooth and quiet. My only regret is that I cant afford it! Otherwise it would be in my garage today

Well she's sold to a fellow Rennlister in Chicago. Congrats Tom. I hope you enjoy her as much as I have. Tears haven't started yet but she is still in my garage for now.

First, congrats to OP and buyer in keeping the tt in the Rennlist family

Second, not a whole lot of differences...
1996 -vs- 1997 Models - The 1997 model has a few improvements. These include:

An ECU that can be modified and re-programmed for much higher HP
Stronger 1st Gear Input Shaft
Upgraded Turbo Hoses

I think you should go for the best sample that appeals to you as a whole

When I was purchasing mine almost 10 yrs ago, I narrowed down my choices between a '96 Iris Blue with under 20k miles vs '97 Black with over 30k miles, similar options, IIRC about a $6-8k difference in favor of the black one, I really wanted the black one and an '97 but the overall package of the '96 Iris Blue negated any advantages, real or perceived, of an '97, to me

GL on your search

Add to that:
the 1997 is, of course, the last year of the air-cooled Porsche and only half as many TT's were brought into U.S. in 1997 vs. 1996 (612 in 1997 and about 1300 in 1996). Hence the '97 pricing premium
