Default 993 Turbo S rims

I have a spare set of 993 Turbo S rims and S rim caps and am trying to decide what to do with them. I'm looking for advice to help decide. I have had them sitting in my garage for 7 years thinking I might need one as a spare at some point. I am now thinking about

1) Sell them; what is the value? They are straight but the finish is imperfect from the previous owner using too harsh a cleaner.
2) Keep them in storage.
3) Refinish them and then sell them; I live close to perhaps the only place in the US that knows how to refinish them.
4) Refinish them and keep them as spares.

I think the driver of the decision will be their value. If they were worth 3000 with imperfect finish, I'd sell for sure. If they were worth 4500 perfectly refinished, I'd refinish and sell. If I don't sell, I think I might want to refinish now, because I know they are hard to refinish and might use a paint that has environmental issues, so I'd rather do it now than not be able to do it later.

If anyone has a sense for their value, could you let me know? They have been sitting there too long.

Do Turbo S wheels have a different part number vs the standard Turbo hollow spoke wheels? I know the S wheels have a different paint code (hyper silver?) vs the standard Turbo wheels. But are they essentially the same wheels with a different color paint?

Standard Turbo hollow spoke wheels sell for about $800-$1,200 per set, depending on condition. FYI.

I don't know if the part number is different. They are the same under the finish, aside from the center caps.

Your question makes me think of a new alternative. If they have the same part number, I should sell the rims without the caps. I can always buy back standard turbo rims later if I need a replacement. I'd free up the garage space and retain the ability to replace later as needed. I need to investigate the part numbers. . .

Thanks.

Yes, the turbo s has different part number, 99336298004 front & 99336298005

And guess what, there are cheaper then the standard turbo hollows! In the UK the S wheels are £630 front and £676 rear. The standard turbo hollows are £1017 front and when they were available the rears were about £1200.

Great info. That being the case, I should keep them. I'll debate refinishing them now.

Thanks.

Standard protocol says refinish and send to me for thorough testing.

Refinish and put them on the shelf. Makes you feel less guilty should anything happen to the ones that are already on the car...

Well, you had them as spares (taking up space in the garage) these past 7 years, appears you're a careful driver. If these were in perfect condition, then I say keep them. But since you say they need refinishing, I say sell them. Do these have tires installed?

Can you still buy the turbo S whees new from Porsche and are they hollow also?

How much does a secondhand set of turbo hollows go fo, rims only?

speaking of which.... my S rims are looking a little weak. How can you refinish them? They are polished, and obviously not chrome or the matte finish

They are painted with a special paint. Protosport in NJ knows how to get it done and has helped turbo s owners do it in the past. It apparently comes out perfectly, show-car quality.

Based on the difference in part numbers, I'm going to keep them. There might come a time when I need them or some other S owner gets desperate.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Are 993 Turbo twist wheels the same size as 993 Turbo S wheels? I know they are 18"s....but are the widths the same? I know 996 Tubo twists are a 1" wider (11Jx18) in the rears, IIRC.
