I really appreciate all of the feedback and think there is an equal, easier and more economical option in this case. After all I am using M1 V Twinn, Techron, a CTEK 3300, installing rennsport pedals and eventually PSS10, store my car on foam tiles, etc. based on recommendations from this forum.......

Gundo Hack sounds like a Korean dance song.

If you read how people didn't like their DYI exhausts and end up buying a pre-made one, just does not seem like a wisely "saved" $300 to cut up your own exhaust.

I understand DYI for the sake of DYI (hobby), but unless something is a big labor saving project, I'm not convinced there is money to be saved. "Penny wise, pound foolish" as they say.

I just hate seeing someone butcher their exhaust to save a $300. The FDM (to pick one), has had some really great reviews... Saving $300 is what the OP's main motive seems to be.
I think there are people like myself that just like to tinker with their cars. I have built many different exhausts for my turbo and my other cars just for fun. I typically will buy additional exhausts to modify and leave the stock ones alone in case of a screw up.

Below are examples of an addition muffler I bought for my M3 and modified. I cut open the can from the top, removed the perforated tubing and replaced it with solid tubing. I restuffed the muffler and welded the sheet metal back on. Once the muffler is installed, there is no visible evidence that the mod ever took place. However, now the car has a really nice tone to it. Total cost of buying an extra muffler and doing the mod was about $300 and I still have my original muffler stored away.

Did I do it because I was cheap? I don't think so but I did get a lot of satisfaction from doing it

I am fairly sure that the Fister Stage I evolved from the DIY LPPM muffler mod anyway. Darin just refined it and took it took to another level with the Stage IIs. I believe Stage IIIs are another step in that evolution.

I confess that I do not know what the term Gundo Hack means.

Gundo Hack adds a bypass pipe from muffler in to muffler out; thus, some of the exhaust will bypass the muffler. Kind of halfway to full bypasses.

.......and you control the loudness via the tube size. Some 997 guys mention the 2" pipe as a good voicing.

Thanks, now I feel duly stupid jumping to conclusions. What is the derivation of the expression? Looks like LPPM in the 993 world. Which was first?
