Default Which child to kill?

I'm in an enviable situation I suppose, but it doesn't feel that way to me at the moment. I have a perfect 993tt and a 991 C2S cab. I have been an obsessed Porsche fan since 1961 when at Marlboro Speedway I identified with the Porsche giant killers, I have been a 911 owner since 1987. So much for my bone fides. I have to part with one of these cars to make way for a 356 Speedster. This is what is weird. When I drive the 991 I am astounded at what an amazing car it is. Then I drive the 993tt and I can't stop smiling cuz it is such a blast. Are there any others out there with the same sensory inputs. I have to part with one of them. I am really reluctant to say this, but money is not the issue. Thanks for responding to a weird question.....Chris

Isn't it amazing what we can get stressed over?

Wish I had the same type of dilemma! Several ways to look at it:

- Which car do you use less / will you use less once the 356 makes its way to the stable?
- Which car will you miss most?
- Which car will you have a tougher time finding if you miss it?

IMO, it really depends on what you feel like when you drive the 356... If it provides you with a similar 'can't stop smiling cuz its such a blast' emotion to the 993tt, then I guess you need to sell the 993 & keep the 991.

With depreciation factored in, I don't think it would make much sense to sell the 991 just yet.

Regardless, what a fantastic position to be in!

Good luck either way....!

if money is not an issue what's the reason you would have to part with any?

if it is garage space? build a bigger garage

Flip a coin . . . heads sell the 991, tails sell the 993TT. If you are upset with the outcome of th coin toss, sell the other car.

I suggest building another garage or a barn. This has helped with my similar issue, but I will need to expand to house the growing flock. For a DD I love my E63, but cannot part with either the 993 C4S or the 993tt. Do you have room for a lift to accommodate more space for your girls?

Total first world problem, which 2 of 3 Porsches to keep ....

Gotta drive all three, then figure out what you need them for, and which ones speak to you more. I assume none of them are daily drivers, right?

I can make a decision -> dump the 991 and pickup the 356.

How did that feel?

Like the coin toss, you need to read your gut and then tailor it to your situation.

Cheers,

Mike

First of all, I'd swap either of them for the Speedster in a heartbeat. One of the truly important sportscars of all time, and a really special thing to own. Old cars are like time machines, transporting us back to another era of engineering, ergonomics, design, they are living archeology. And the Speedster was a transformational car, as different from it's peers as if it came from Mars. By contrast, the 991 seems to me to be, while a wonderful car, less distinguished from it's contemporaries than a Porsche has ever been. In an era of 600HP mustangs, Caddy's that beat bimmers at the 'ring, and Hyundai's with more HP than your tt, the 991, IMO, just 'means' less. Much less than the Speedster which is an icon, and somewhat less than the tt which for it's day was a high-water-mark supercar.

You should sell the easiest to buy back, the 991. In the meantime, build some more space
