Default 97 993S Digital speedo display randomly scatters

Others suggest the turbo forum might now this issue. Hence my post here. The digital display of my speedometer on my C2S 993 infrequently goes 'haywire' as it scatters the digits - this is for the speed function or any function (climate, fuel distance etc). After scattering the digits it can freeze but then come good. I have also found that if I tap the tacho glass cover gently the scramble stops and comes good. Anyone had a similar issue and knows the cause/fix?

Can you go 888 mph? LOL. Just humor. No I have no experience with this. Although I do recommend the PLX Devices OBDII display upgrade in that slot. May solve your issues (OBComputer issues)

Thanks all. This and other threads suggested a tap/slap too the glass. I am finding a tap on the glass gets it back to normal again. But will need to explore the other ideas as longer term solutions. I am going to remove it and check connections for rust etc. Thanks again.

Same issue with mine. Tapped the tach too, somehow it seems to be working normal again. If it goes off again, I'll prob send to NH speedometer but its def not cheap.

Crazy thing I saw the other day that a brand new OEM tach with OBC is something like 1700.00 to replace.
