slave cylinder: boosted vs. not
#16
Does anyone know what the leverage ratio of the stock pedal box is? I can't help wondering if there is a Tilton or Wilwood option that would increase the ratio and do an adequate job of decreasing the pedal effort without the expense and mess of converting to the hydroboosted slave.

Just to follow up, my car has been converted to manual with a stock slave and RS Clutch/PP. I went stock to limit the question marks while doing the conversion.
The pedal weight is bearable for now. However, lighter would be even better for endurance and finesse. In other words, the setup is fine, but figuring this out would be the cherry.
Would it technically be feasible to replace the power steering rack with the boosted slave in the existing pumping circuit? Simply re-route the lines to the slave cylinder and figure out steering separately? How much pressure is required for the assisted slave? Can anyone recommend a specialist?
Thanks

What you are asking for is unusual and I doubt if many people have done it - but its not to say its not possible. Be aware that the 993TT slave cylinder is known to fail, and the unit around $700 just by itself.
I have never seen any published specifications on pressure and flow volumes that the systems use, but I suspect that the clutch slave uses much less volume than the steering rack. See my previous posting though, it needs a fair amount of parts and piping, so be prepared to spend some $$$.
Not sure why you went to a RS clutch setup, the pressure plate requires more force then a conventional DMF/clutch setup. Perhaps that does not matter if you plan to "power-assist" the circuit anyways...

That was my car. Jeff and crew slaved over it, had some troubles, some frustrations, but did a great job of it in the end. They just might be the 964 experts now.
I'm getting use to the pedal weight. I'll keep this in my pocket if I need to and I'm in a better position to do the work. I think a dedicated pump and circuit for the slave simplifies the whole deal.
nrubenstein - I think it's 4:1.
