I have the code, just went outside and followed instructions. Entered the code held key fob but did not see light at the door blink. I must be Doing something wrong. How long should I hold the key fob before I see the door light blink?

Also I entered the last number of the code, the immobilizer light flashes which means I entered it correctly, after that I just go immediately and pressed and held key fob but no light lit up at the door. I sure thought I had it, instructions seem simple but I am sure I am screwing up somewhere. Thx

The time I had to program the fob I was in the car with door closed not sure if that matters...

Sorry your having such a difficult time believe me ,none of us who.ve done it had an easy time ...thats why once it's done your just elated it's over...
I recall the key position was important ,turning the ignition key to the second position then key fob
flashes on the screen and door lights flash ,then I think I entered the code and fob flashed accordingly!
Just by memory make sure you have a dealer or factory tech procedure sheet...good luck, Bert

From what I remember it only takes a couple of seconds for the light on the door to blink while holding the remote button.

OK, I held it for more than a minute and nada.... I am almost 90% sure I am doing something wrong..Will try it again tonight and see if I find some more literature on it. Thx

Yeah, something's not right then. Where are you located? If you're near me, I'll give it a shot for you. I've programmed a few in the past.

I think today I created a short in the car... By doing this I no longer see the immobilizer light come up in my dash. Did I damage the immobilizer unit? Do they go badBad?

I seriously doubt you've created a short circuit by continually pressing
the immobilizer..you may however have run your battery down and
the ecu goes into a less active mode from what I've seen.
I would suggest recharging the battery and see if the immobilizer
Flashing Icon will reappear.
You may also need to replace the battery in the immobilizer if you have'nt done so already.
If you seem to have this much difficulty programming the fob it might
not hurt to find a dealer that will do it for you.
It seemed from what you were saying originally having to reuse the code every time the car was started it should be second nature when that code is programmed the car sends off the programming signal for
the fob...

Thanks Bert, I had a bad fuse, problem fixed now.

Moving on to the immobilizer, you mean to tell me there is an actual battery inside the immobilizer ECU? The one under the driver seat?That might be key if that is the case. I changed the battery in the key fob already.
