Here are two possible ways to try to place a value on Andial and Ruf cars:
1) what would it cost to reproduce? For the Andial car with 48,000 miles. I would compute ~ $60k for the car and $80k for the upgrades... $140k. Of course you can't really reproduce it anymore. For your (NYC123) car with 7,000 miles, I would compute about $90k for the car and $80K for the upgrades... $170K. Yipes.

2). what will this likely bring on the market? This is very hard to compute... both the Andial car (about 25 examples worldwide) and the Ruf Turbo R (about 50 or 75???? worldwide) rarely come to market, and there is no "bluebook" for pricing. But, you may be able to use the same value for the base car as above, and then assign some percentage to the upgrades to establish a value. As an example, if we allow 50% of the cost of the upgrades, then the Andial would be at ~$100,000 and your Ruf would be at ~$130,000.
Is 50% reasonable? I have no idea. If your Ruf has a Ruf VIN, it would bring more. IMHO. I too want to see what that Andial brings.

NYC123: I have never heard of a Ruf Turbo R with a 3.8l kit. Can you say more about that please?

Ok I'll play:
There are only 19 left. 2 died within the last two years.
As the Keeper of the Andial Registry I am somewhat privy to what the cars have been selling for due to the kind input of some of the newest owners.

If EVERYTHING is perfect in the subject car:
Paint, accumulator, door check strap, steering rack, hood shocks and all of the other usual suspects, I would say
$105K - $110k.

Default 993TT

I have another car I'm interested in & might sell mine in a month or so, would defiantly need over a $100k, it is as new condition w/11k miles (2,300 on motor). This car is the twin plug which was more $$, I'm not big on the color, but if I was, I'd go $95kish, just knowing who built it & no issues after a few thousand miles, how many times do your hear how long people wait & stress on engine builds.

Steve,

That was the car RAC converted a couple of years ago. Not sure why NYC123 is calling it a Turbo R. i don't think that it is. RAC (formerly RUF Dallas) did the work, maybe that is why. It does have a RUF steering wheel...

I watched the progress on that car. Very cool as seen in the pics linked above.

Hans/CJ's old Andial was definitely the one that got away! I still regret not buying it ... if only I had the time and space for another car. My R would be pissed!

Yes I own the car being discussed here on the RUF site. I have discussed with RUF what actually makes something a RUF turbo R and it is a bit unclear. I believe there are no actual RUF VIN 993 cars in the USA so any RUF 993 is just a RUF conversion. The car I have is a 3.8 L conversion if it should be called a Turbo R or not I am not sure. I asked RUF this question and they themselves did not have an exact answer. In terms of replacement cost I think a 7k mile 97 blk blk 993 TT is easily 100-110k or more today. The conversion would be about 80-90k, so I think to create the same car would easily be 180-195k. what it is worth in the secondary market tough call, like most things its worth what somebody is willing to pay. to be clear, the car is not for sale. It is by far the most fun car I have owned to drive.

Hi
Sounds like you have a great car/build. Not saying it is a ruf or not but, out of interest, I assume a ruf car would have a ruf ECU, with ruf part number on it? Also for the conversions, I understood that even at 'ruf' center, the ruf tech flew out from germany to do the work (at least that's the way they did it when ruf NA was at Weissach here in BC).

Based on advertised tt s range of $125k to $175k and tt range $55k (with issues and/or high mileage) to $90k (with no issues and/or sub 20k miles):

Dare I say quick sale $110k

Non quick sale $130k

You never know what a particular buyer is willing to pay

Whether Ruf cars starts as a body in white from Porsche then Ruf VIN applied or Porsche VIN car converted, Ruf seems to consider all their cars to be "conversions".

Their status as a manufacturer, thus allowing them to apply a Ruf VIN number, doesn't change the fact the bodies in white are purchased from Porsche.

It appears the "argument" between Ruf VIN cars and Ruf with Porsche VIN cars seems to have emanated from the owners themselves.

In Ruf cars' history, all the original cars were Porsche VIN (eg: Yellow Bird) anyway, but I doubt anyone regards this cars as anything less than being Ruf cars.
http://www.ruf-automobile.de/en/en-u...geschichte.php

Ponder this: would you buy a "basic" Ruf VIN Ruf car over a "full-boat" Porsche VIN Ruf car conversion? We know owners have different levels of spendage in their pockets...

A Ruf car is a Ruf car is a Ruf car

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Would I take this Andial 3.8 over a Ruf car? Well, hell yes!!! There's something about an Andial being built by the guy who ran Porsche Motorsports North America.

If $$$ and availbility wasn't main issues, I'll take one of each...

RAC is calling it a 3.8L conversion, but no mention of it being called an Andial conversion probably because the conversion was performed by RAC and not Andial.

Was Andial parts sourced thru Andial for this 3.8L conversion?

And to be called an Andial car, doesn't Andial have to do the conversion and provide documentation and "certification" for the conversion?

Pedigree is everything...
