asking price doesn't equal selling price.

Yes, I think we all know this. I was just addressing the OP regarding asking price. As far as market price... I have no idea.

I remember in the 90's Ferrari Dino's asking 60-80k ("A beginner Ferrari - but is it really a Ferrari") and now the go for 200k and are adored as Ferrari's. The trouble I have with 993TT's going up in value is that there are 5000+ copies out there? 993TTS is genuinely rare. I'm always surprised by the number of relatively low mileage 993TT that come out of the wood work. I could be wrong but IIRC San Francisco Sports Cars had a 993TTS with 84k miles and were asking $150 it was promptly sold a couple months ago. I'm trying to figure out where all the 996GT2's are?

Many of those 996 GT2's are crashed

That 993 TTS in SFO was a hideous red combo, but in SFO there must have been someone to love it

What do you mean "5,000+ copies"? Please expain. I agree with your last statement. Thanks.

Were there not 5000 some 993TT's made globally? Looks like there was almost 6000 made from wiki. I hope my apostrophe 's' isn't confusing.

It seems like any care that is made in the last 20-30 years with over 1500-2000 examples (copies, etc) it's a slow path to increasing in value if at all. Just too many museum garage queens.

OK, I got ya now. Yeah, I figure there are less than 1,000 1996's in the USA right now and less than 600 1997's.

Hmmmm . . . whelp that is considerably less than I had thought so maybe I should be more bullish on the 993TT prices. It more less makes sense with what is in Peter Morgans book (quoted elsewhere) and knowing they have been exported over the years.

"1996 1997 993 turbo to the US 1357 and 1048 "

I guess I look to Ferrari F40 production numbers in the past where they held stable for some years while other Ferrari's (288 GT0) and Lamborghini's (early Countach's) went up. I chalked it up to how many were produced no matter how great the car (and brief speculative sales prices after Enzo's death). Makes me think the BMW 1 M series is kind of a little bit neater too.

Those are the numbers I've always heard, still 5 fold more than slants. I think 930 slants and 964 3.6 cars are more affordable right now compared to the 993tts. jmo

I am going to fix my error from last night and say less than 500 1997's in the USA right now.

Its really an academic difference. The 993TT was not made in huge numbers, but I don't think it will be the collectable car some people think it will.

Last air-cooled

Last forged engine

Last of the "small" 911's

No, it wont be a GTO, but the demand will be there.

last forged engine? huh?

last air cooled and last of the small 911s won't come to mean much in my opinion.
