Market value of 993 Turbo S?

I have a car that will out-accelerate a Turbo S, and I could easily get one that will out-handle any of those cars for less than $10k. That's not the point. It's the whole package. And of course it's subjective, but I love the way a 993TTS looks, sounds, and I haven't driven one, but I imagine it drives like other 993s, which I like.
I agree that the whole package is important, but are you saying that an F430 is not a good whole package?

The guy who just sold his 250 GTO for 35 million would probably disagree with you!
In fact, not only 356's but early 911's have also been on the rise.
Not saying I am putting my 401(k) into cars, but the collectible car market appears to be moving up again. More fun than watching the stock market indexes!

cars, on the whole, are bad investments.

My point is that even though the cars you listed may be quicker or handle better than a 993TTS, that doesn't necessarily make them more desirable. I would say the F430 is a good whole package, but it doesn't do as much for me as a 993TTS.

As I have posted here before, were it not for difference of opinion there would be no horse racing and we would be fighting over the same woman. With that said, I agree with Quad that cars, for most of us, yield dividends in enjoyment but not big increases in value. There are exceptions, and if you have the dough, the patience, the courage and are prescient you can can sure make money. That isn't why most of us love Porsches, but we are enthusiasts and have a special perspective concerning desirability. I sure wish I had bought a TTS not too long when they were trading around 100K. I figure that even though I have been in love with this marque for several decades and know more than the average bear about these cars, I missed, totally, the investment potential of the TTS. So I guess I am humbled when it comes to cars, even Porsches, as investment instruments. The fact remains that my 28K 993TT sits in my garage under cover, while I DD my 991S Cab. PLEASE STOP ME BEFORE I BUY AGAIN!

I was not saying that most of us could make a living buying/selling cars, but I was observing that in the past few years I have been following the collector car market, mostly through avid reading of Sports Car Market magazine, the price of many collectibles I had been interested in have risen significantly. In particular, E-Type Jags, Dino's, Sunbeam Tigers (even them!), open 356's, soft window Targas. And 993TTS's!

I really think these 993 turbos whether they be S or regular are only going to increase in value the next 10-15 years. I'm 34 and my generation grew up with the "kills bugs fast" posters on our dorm room walls and these are our dream cars. Just look what's happen to the market for F40's and 959's. Those are being bought up by people in their 40's and 50's who now are fortunate enough enough to be in a position to buy their dream cars.
As far as other cars with a limited run that could be compared with the 993 tts look at the Ferrari 512M (last run of the Testarossa). Not for me but a unique low volume car. Btw I was fortunate enough to own a 575M previously and I wouldn't trade my 993tt for it in a million years. It was an amazing car but just too temperamental.

Don't mean to be a smarta$$, so don't get offended. But if you want to impress people, get an F. If you want a car that can run all day at the track... get a P

Brakes... or better, lack thereof. On a hot day, coolant would fail too.
was a member of Autobahn for several years until some issues caused me to leave racing
when F owners would bring their cars out, we would literally take wagers on how many laps before they would pit. Typically 4 laps on the longer track is all it would take.
360s were worse. And Scags would do much better with CF. But a stock 430 just wasn't equipped
In my experience only three cars could go from the showroom to the track and be expected to go all day

Porsche, 911 or Gayman, both could do it
Some cars had great brakes... F-GT comes to mind. But it would cook itself
