I'd recommend Nokian Z G2's if those are available at where you live. They are more comfortable but still quite sporty and I'd say as high quality tires as PS2's.
Sure the PS2's would be a bit faster on track but on normal roads they are a bit harsh and follow more ruts.
Some reviews of the Nokian's: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Nokian/Z-G2.htm

Current street tires that I use are Michelin Pilot Sport 2. Before I used Bridgestone S02. I´ve not used the PS2 so long, but I notice that there are less road noise than before. The tires feels softer than PS2. I belive the S02 has stiffer sidewalls. For road use I think the PS2 is better. On track the S02 is probably a better choice.
On track days I use Toyo R888. I would not recomend them as street tires. It´s to much of a compromise. Sounds more like tires mounted on pick-ups or studdless winter tires on more normal cars. They are not good rain even if they are good in comparison to other more "track day" oriented tires. Does not last long.

Initially it appears that the compound is at least as sticky as the P0s under full throttle but I nearly crapped myself after hitting some good bends. The back end was all over the place and felt like jelly!
It may be too early to pass final judgement (8mm tread will move around more than 1mm) but it seems like the sidewalls are a lot softer than the P0s. The handling is not helped, of course, by having P0s still on the front.
Previously I could throw the car all over the place and it would be very stable through corners.
The Nokians are a decent tyre for the money but maybe more suited to drivers that prefer a softer ride.
Note to self : Don't mix brands on a 993 Turbo for sure, unless the compounds AND the sidewall stiffness are very similar.

I just purchased my 96 and it came w Pzero Asymmetricos, only a couple of hundred miles but they seem ok. I have Pirellis on my 2012 997.2 C2GTS as well, am happy with them, I like them better than the Potenza's I had on my 2008 C2S, just a bit more bite/less slippery. Downside is that I wore thru the rear Pirellis on the GTS a lot faster than the Bridgestone's on the C2S (could be that I go a lot faster ?? ;-))

I'm really happy with them, and I drove them hard on the 993 fest together here in Wa. A great street performance tire for those spirited drives.
