Default 993TT at Cars Dawydiak

Hi All - is anyone familiar with the car in the link below at Cars Dawydiak?

http://www.carsauto.com/1997-porsche...urbo-c-580.htm

Asides from the car, have you had any experiences you can share about the dealership?

I have no knowledge of the TT, however, I have sold two of my Porsches with him, one a 1996 C4S, the other a 1997 Turbo S. He is very fair and honest person to deal with. Lots of integrity and is well respected in the bay area.

The owners name is Walter.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. Supposedly they have a really good Porsche mechanic on-site. Do you think it is a bad idea to do a PPI there vs. at another shop.

Are there any other shops in the area (SF) that you would recommend for a PPI?

For an objective opinion (and your own peace of mind and due diligence) look to a 3rd party for the ppi.

Closest shop would be The Stable .. very close to that dealer: The Stable - Alan Klinger, 1700 Pine Street, San Francisco (415) 776-2707 email ... Owner/operator is Werner Hoch who was trained at the Porsche factory.

Real Mean Garage .. (RMG) in Sunnyvale .. a bit south .. but highly rated

I am familiar with this TT. I was interested in it myself for a while but I can safely say that the owner is nuts and is not really interested in selling.

I was working with the guys at the dealership to locate records. The owner "says" he has some but never furnished anything.

After two months, I got tired of dealing with him and I am now pursuing other TTs. Life's too short.

Bottom line: if you look at the inspection report, you will quickly see that this TT is not all that nice. It has clearly been sitting and there are all sorts of worrisome leaks and other issues that will need addressing. I would say the new owner will quickly sink $5-10k to make things right. At $69.9k this TT is already overpriced, so I don't think this is buyable.

The dealer said point-blank that there were better TTs out there and that for a no-doc TT with a bunch of work required, the owner was being totally unrealistic.

Other fish in the sea, but that's just my opinion.

As to the dealership, I've heard mixed things over the years, but I've never had a bad experience with them. The also have a body shop upstairs that has done work on my cars over the years and, except for a few niggling things, have always done good, consistent work.
