Clicking noise 993 tt
Hi!
My 993 turbo recently had a complete overhaul (2500 clicks ago), this was done by the dealership.
Now I am left with a clicking noise, sounding like a Singer sawing machine. Porsche cannot tell me what it is. The car drives fine but the noise drives my nuts. I know that the car is not right, and it has to be right to feel good (if you know what I mean? ;-)
Anyone with some good advise would be very welcome.
Thanks and happy motoring!

I would say if you have noise issues within 2500 kms of a full rebuild at a dealership, drop the car off at the stealer and demand they fix the thing!
If its a ticking noise and varies with the engine RPM, it can be a bad lifter. Did they replace them? Perhaps on did not pressurize?
There could be a lot of other causes as well, so you have to be more specific. Its hard to diagnose it with "it sounds like xx". Info like loudness, does it very with RPM, or with speed, or from what part of the engine its coming from all help.
Cheers,
Mike

Sometimes you can use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope (unless you happen to have a stethoscope) to help pin point the source of the clicking noise. If it IS a lifter, you'll hear the clicking in the head/camshaft area. Is there some reason why the dealer isn't taking care of this for you?

Could be sooooooo many things. Even a simple one, like they used the wrong oil viscosity on the re-fill.
When's the last time a Porsche dealership saw a 993 Turbo? Back in 2001 or 2012? That's why you must have a trusted indy in your pocket or be a skill DIY.
