I posted this on the 993 forum if anyone is interested in seeing a UOA on Pentosin used in a Turbo.

I couldn't find the temp range table for M1 V Twin 20W50 but as I recall it went way down to -15 so it should be OK to start-up well below freezing should it not?

I remember reading one of the gurus saying that V-Twin was okay if you weren't starting repeatedly below 32F. The implication was that occasional starts somewhat below that wouldn't be a problem.

The chart on this site: http://www.lnengineering.com/oil.html#Z11
says that 20W50 is okay to 20F, but if you are doing repeated cold starts below 32F then 15W40 is better.

Thanks. That's the table. OK to -10C. I like to go for a spin when it's sunny and dry probably 4 times a winter but I won't start it unless the garage temperature is over +5C. When you only drive 2K miles a year, and do a few spins a winter, thinner oil isn't really worthwhile.

just go by the data sheets

US M1 V-Twin

OpieOils has a bunch of datasheets to compare coldcranking and pumping - if you can't find them on US websites
