amazing the driver wasnt crushed as the passenger compartment looks pretty well flattened. Makes me feel good about having a roll bar in my car. They are built extremely strong & have been for years. I had a tough run in with a telephone pole in a 930 (the pole came at me broadside at 50ish mph - ok I went at it) but the car fractured the pole and I walked away with a bruise on my thigh and a lump on my head - otherwise fine.

Insurance game me 31g for the car, I bought it back from them for 6G. Strangely enough you could still start and drive the thing in that conditions - well not in a straight line. But knowing the motor was worth at least 6G i knew it would be a win. I wound up pulling in 14G in parts - so net of it was 39G for the heartbreaking death of a beautiful 930, & enough to get me on my way up to the 993.

Yet another valiant 993 sacrifices it's life for it's driver.
I'm so glad you are OK.
I now have another red tab on the Andial registry.

(El Guapo is too choked up over the loss of his "hermano rosso" to talk yet.)

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Great community here.

DM, that's a hell of a whack on the driver's side.

The car looks a bit "flatter" once the salvage people turned her back over. From the inside the roof just barely touched the top of the passenger seat and the top of the driver's seat had 4" or so of clearance to the roof when I got out. There was a crease in the panel that came down between the seats. I was able to get the driver's side door window down to climb out (it didn't break). I am relatively short (5'7") and my head wasn't near the roof and the belt held me down in the seat.

Scott, I'll let you know all the details of the motor's new home when its all done. Its a real shame the original build ended up like this. The heart and soul of "el hermano rosso" will live again.

LA Dismantlers sent me an email about a black on black 96 turbo rolling chassis a few weeks ago. Missing a few interior parts but other wise looked good. I was on ebay about a week ago.

Good luck.

Stephen, make sure you do your due diligence with LAD, and then do it again one more time.

Stephen and Dave, it's always painful for me to see pics of mangled 911 Turbo's, but glad to know both of you are okay.

I DO feel more safe driving on a track than on the street, what with cell phones and poorly coordinated drivers on public roads....

Thanks for the help. I came across the LA dismantlers roller a few weeks ago and they want, in my opinion, a lot of money for it. The price really depends on how much stuff is left. Caveat emptor

I'll keep you all posted if I take a look at the shell. AW, thanks for the nice message
