Default Do you know this car? Also, PPI rec needed for Bellevue, WA

Does anyone know anything about this car? Looking to do a PPI and find out history.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...#ht_500wt_1182

http://www.platinumautos.com/375937/...6/Porsche/911/

What I do know,
- One owner car (but has been to WA, and FL with same owner... possibly more places)

What I need to know,
- Would this pass emissions in CA? If no one knows could I get a smog test in WA during the PPI and check the levels and compare to what CA allows..? Just a thought as I have no idea how to test it otherwise.

Any help is appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Bryan

I see some light discussion on the look of the car and then they started to discuss a Turbo S that sold.

It did help with opinions but the only real info on the car that I noticed was that maybe I should use Squire Autowerkes for the PPI which is in Bellevue.

Someone did mention Squire performed a PPI where one cylinder was off by 30% but I couldn't tell if it was this car or he was just giving an example on Squires business....

Any additional help is appreciated.

Thanks again,
Bryan

I got feeling its mechanically good, I'd ppi it there too, but... that car was $60 somthin' on ebay, then $69k & now $72k. I'd have to see the paint in person

I agree on the paint.. I would fly up if needed. I never knew it was 60 something on Ebay. They would be taking my car on trade plus a couple bucks... not much but I need to make sure it is solid. Hopefully some others can chime in if they know the car.

My other main concern which I am starting to think wouldn't be possible would be it passing emissions in CA...

Thanks for the input... much appreciated.

Take an obd2 scanner with you, make sure it can tell if its been reset & ready for emissions, they should be able to tell you in ppi also, I think car is worth $65ish, needs stock wheels. I am considering selling a blk/blk 96 in outstanding condition with a lot of tasteful mods, stock look, no paintwork.

Not a bad idea. The reason this sale will/would work is because they would be taking my 2004 996TT Cabrio with 11,800 miles on trade. If the car was sold I probably would purchase DFW Porsche's 993TT who is selling his on this forum... love Arena Red but White is also on the list.

If my car does sell then I would be open to looking at yours. Where are you located and how many miles on the car?

I did not read that to be related to the car you are viewing.

The OBD scanner won't help you much with this car. I just read the build list and it has a Zytek management system. be prepared for headaches.

HUGE PROBLEM! I HAD A HOLCOMBE CAR WITH ZYTEC & NOBODY COULD TUNE IT, OB2 PORT WAS DEAD. THEY WOULD NOT PUT A SNIFFER ON 1996, NO WAY TO GET PASSED.

Squire found a problem on a car that I was considering 5 years ago...I believe it was a different car.

I completely agree and have decided to pass on the car... thank you very much for all of your input. Me being a 930 and now a 996TT guy I don't know all the tricks when it comes to a 993TT and am very unfamiliar with the management systems except for LINK.

Not worth the hassle not to mention I could never pass emission in CA with it anyways.

Regards,
Bryan
