Default "Book Value"

Hello all. Haven't touched a fine piece of German engineering in quite a while....unless you count a magazine full of 180 JHP's from a Sig 220 yesterday .
Started out looking quite unassuming..month later I am narrowed down to 964t..993tt's
Unless I change my mind again. I recently found a very low mile 993tt in the 70ish range. My Credit union said the underwriter was scared off as high "book" was low 50's.
I ASSumed he was correct and moved on. Then I got a few mins and tried to look them up myself. I couldn't even find a price that high! So obviously the Kelly and Nada I was using does not show these cars properly.
So were can I find a proper price guide that I can show my guys so we are talking apples to apples.

I got on this path as my quest to add a second Corvette to the stable fell through when a beautiful Yellow (only proper color) ZO6 got sold out from under me.
Thanks,
Gary

Gary,

Cool on the Sig, and you get no argument from me on the Z06.

Some of the high-end Porsche retailers can confirm the higher prices: Sloan, ??? (gadzooks, my feeble mind just went blank). You can also look in the classifieds in Autoweek magazine and get a few 993TT prices that are more in line with what you are seeing. Low $50s would probably get you a nice TT with 60k miles... still not even broken in, as far as I'm concerned. Plus a car in that range can be driven without fear of wrecking the premium paid of a super low-mileage example, Just find one that has been well cared for and get a pre-purchase inspection done from an unbiased, competent shop.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I will look up Sloan now. I can understand one or two cars above and beyond price wise..but just for grins I did a search on autotrader (I think) 20+ in that same price range.
So there must be a higher authority for dealers and lenders to go by.

Yes as you get a few miles (and years) under the belt you tend to forget the single brand only train of thought and see there is some damn cool cars with all kinds of hood badges.
I lost out on the "Only one left" 2011 ZO6 in the US with the exterior and interior color that I wanted. But with Government Motors at the helm and the greanies on constant full auto..that all aluminum 427 might not ever see the light of day again..cant take that chance.
So I will find a low mile one to sneak up on in the future.
I am off to give bing a good workout.

Gary, search the 993 Forum. There was a recent post over there about ways to finance a +14 year old car.

I went to the online Kelley Blue Book and this is what I got:

Kelley Blue Book - The Trusted Resource
Used Car Private PartyPrices
®

1996 Turbo Coupe 2D
Mileage: 20,000 change ok

Private Party Kelley Blue Book® Private Party Value:

This is the starting point for negotiation of a used-car sale between a private buyer and seller. This is an "as is" value that does not include any warranties. The final price depends on the car’s actual condition and local market factors.

* Excellent $79,275
* Good $77,275
* Fair $73,975

No HTwo O,
Thanks, I missed that thread. I might have to look into PenFed for their interest rate. I do a lot of business with my outfit now, probably 2 bikes a year..but the underwriter was concerned it was 30,000 over book (his book).

gruppe75,
Thanks for that. I did try them but could not get past the zip code look up. Probably need to open up cookies for that..wont happen.
Also tried Edmonds today. They actually showed the 993tt instead of just 1996 911..but was only high 40's

I am going to find out which "book" they use just for the hell of it on Mon.
Thanks, for the input

I think I have discovered the problem. I am on Motortrend right now. Here are their figures
----------------------------------------------------------------
Mileage Dealer Trade-In Value Consumer Resale Value
Rough Average Clean Excellent
90,000 - 104,000
$44,710 $47,420 $49,290 $63,010
104,001 - 118,000
$38,610 $41,830 $43,850 $57,570
118,001 - 132,000
$33,650 $37,150 $39,230 $52,950
132,001 - 146,000
$29,730 $33,360 $35,430 $49,150
146,001 - 160,000
$26,770 $30,420 $32,460 $46,180
160,001 - 174,000
$24,680 $28,300 $30,310 $44,030
174,001 - 188,000
$23,410 $27,010 $28,990 $42,710
188,001 - 202,000
$22,940 $26,530 $28,490 $42,210
202,001 - 216,000
$23,240 $26,840 $28,810 $42,530
216,001 - 230,000
$24,340 $27,960 $29,960 $43,680

I think they may have mistakenly thought the mileage was 125,000 Instead of 25,000!
In fact their "book" might not go down that low on a '96 model
