This guy has been fishing for at least a year with this car. Price stays the same.

I too have my doubts about the pedigree. If it's the real deal provide some paperwork. Burden of proof lies with the seller.

It is a RUF conversion and not a RUF VIN car. The DME you picture is a RUF modified piece. All Turbo R's should have one!

And the seller should correct the description and the rear badge. The 993 is a TURBO R - the 996 is a R TURBO. There is a difference to a few of us who are ****.

Anyone know what that front bumper is? That is crazy.

Nice, fresh car. Big number!
Also the front badge seems to big, are we picky ehh!

I'm with you Patrick, R Turbo badge is killing me.

Is there and issue with the front hood ? Seems to be a big gap

This car has been listed on ebay in the UK twice. The no-reserve auction closed in Dec for £35K ($56K) but the car was then relisted. I was the only bidder on the 2nd auction and "won" the car for £35K ($56K). Given that the car had been listed for sale at $169K I proceeded with caution; I'm a pretty firm believer that if something sounds too good to be true it probably is.

It transpires all it not quite as it seems. A salvage title was issued in July 2002 in PA at 26,000 miles. No further details seem to be available as to what happened other than that the insurance company took the car back because the owner at the time had financial problems. Perhaps autocheck is wrong. That said I've never heard of an insurance company repossessing a car much less it then being issued a salvage title for that reason alone. There are no liens mentioned in the autocheck report.

Then there's an odometer reading of 5000 (unknown if miles or km) in August 2003 from Quebec and another reading of 45060 (again unknown if miles or km) in April 2006 also from Quebec. A minor accident is listed in Feb 2007. So the real mileage is unknown, at least to me. The 8200 miles in the photos are the miles on the Ruf speedo.

I got the impression that the seller (same as listed earlier in this thread) would have sold the car to me for $56K but there were too many red flags for my liking on a car far too far away to be willing to throw a few grand at a trip to inspect it. Given what I discovered with only minor digging I can't help but wonder "what else?"

If someone is closer to Winnipeg and/or a bigger risk taker than me the car could pan out and be good value.

I maintain a RUF Registry and have made note of this and Felix's information. I will make a page for this car as time permits (I have a lot of others I'm in the process of adding).

I think Texas993 hit the nail on the head. If this car just had the TurboR engine conversion and maybe a couple other bits like wheels and pillar fillers it would be much more saleable at a REASONABLE price. All the other aftermarket riff-raff dilutes the RUF goodies. At $169K, a higher mileage CTR2 is not too far off.

That's a pretty significant difference in price from his $169K.

If your hunch is correct, at $56K I think there should definitely be some interests from 993TT buyers out there.
