RUF Turbo In Canada
I'm surprised we have not talked about this stunning Tubo before. I first saw the ad in Panorama last month, but forgot to make a post about it. I saw the ad again in the recent June issue (page #100 under 'race cars') and thought I'd make a post about it. I contacted the seller, and he sent me these pics and build sheet.
Excerpt from the Pano ad:
1997 RUF Turbo
8,200 miles
$169,000

I love the sale sheet. It doesn't appear to be a RUF VIN car, does it?
And the seller should correct the description and the rear badge. The 993 is a TURBO R - the 996 is a R TURBO. There is a difference to a few of us who are ****.
Anyone know what that front bumper is? That is crazy.
Nice, fresh car. Big number!

Arena red? For real? Everyone knows Guards is faster
I'm hoping in one of those pics that the front trunk is open? Otherwise it looks like a gnarly gap by the windshield cowl. In the dead on front pic, it appears to be very nicely aligned.
Great car though!

That appears to be a Brey Krause harness guide bar, and if it is, those harnesses are not supposed to be attached to the bar. Of course if you are concerned about depreciation, at that price, you can't drive the car anyway so the harness mounting may not matter.

OK, since everyone is being picky about this car... The wheels are beautiful, but a Ruf Turbo R MUST have Ruf wheels. And its crying out for yellow calipers (Arena red car with guards red calipers; a fashion foopah)... perhaps serious Ruf brakes (see Rufus).

Personally, I think the weirdness about this car is that while it has a lot of RUF stuff on it, it has a bunch of other stuff. Strange sticker on the rear light strip, seat harness bar, front bumper, muffler tips, wrong stickers, etc. And it does not appear to be a RUF Vin car (I could be wrong).
If it was a RUF Vin with all RUF bits including bumpers and all, it would be a competitive price.
All that being said, it is a beautiful car.

I'll ask the seller for the VIN # so we can have someone check to see if it is a RUF registered Porsche.
As for the price, it's an "asking price". So, I'd assume negotiable. I really don't think many peple are seeing this car because it's in Canada and listed in the "race car" section of Pano, not the Turbo 911 section.

Between the exhaust tips, wheels, rear reflector and front bumper I'm not feelin it. If it's a Ruf, stick with Ruf accessories. As for the $169,000 price tag, no comment.
