RSR Carnewal Muffler, I just came back from Belgium
Hi folks, wanted just to share with you my experience. Living in Switzerland and being an happy owner of a 993TT I decided to go up in Belgium to meet with mr. Gert Carnewal. Result: I'm very very very satisfied with both, the RSR muffler Gert installed me and having met such a gentlemen and his family.
I had the chance to sleep in their cottage (really amazing) and taste the world's famous belgian beer together with all the Carnewal family. I can only recommend it and it think next year I will take another excuse to drive over km 2'000 up and down just to meet Gert and maybe install some other new stuff

That's the nice part of the history. All the mods are under the skin and you don't notice them from outside. Gert is actully modifing your OEM part. The only signal about the RSR muffler is the distintive sound (louder and deeper).

Any idea what he does to the mufflers? According to another thread, you can get 'em opened up, emptied and re-welded for around $150 and apparently they sound pretty good....just askin'.

I believe Gert has the European license to implement Robin Sun's muffler mods, hence RSR, which includes cutting stock mufflers, gutting the insulation, performing some "magic" internally, and re-welding.

It's not that I'm a tight wad or anything, but I just never saw the benefit cost wise for shipping my cans all the way to Europe and back again for this mod.
The shipping was more than the mod itself, so I took the mufflers to a local guy who opened them up, did the mods that he thought would make the difference. All up it cost me $400NZ which is still a lot less than the shipping alone. He did show me what he did but all I know is that they sound really nice and throaty. It's a great mod. There's not really much more they can do anyway.
Cheers

I quess we wouldn't own these cars if we were cheap 993MAN but I worked hard for my $$$ and I want good value when I spend it. I have no idea but I've heard elswhere that the end product sound is the same without spending a lot on shipping and "magic". I haven't heard anything to the contrary here so I don't see any reason not to try the economical option and go pricey if it doesn't work.....
