Default 993TT price check..

Hello 993ers,

I've been wanting a 993 Turbo for awhile and I'm finally getting ready to pull the trigger on one. I actually live in Canada and have been watching a certain one. It's a '97 black on black, 37k miles, the car is "certified", has extended full leather option, Supple Leather Seats, car supposedly has complete history. It's at a car dealership and theyre asking 78k. Its been for sale for some months now. I plan on heading down to the dealer to check it out in the coming weeks. Based on the things I've posted, what would be a good offer?

Thanks in advance

$65k is a bit low, but it doesn't hurt to throw the offer out there. You'll probably end up around $70k, but make sure you get a PPI.

This seems like an average asking price for this car. I would suspect it is an american model with the Supple leather seats.
I agree with Parsonii at $65,000, if it were in the middle of winter. During the summer months I think closer to $70,000. Are you prepared to wait until the winter?

Who is the dealer? Perhaps someone here can provide you with his/her experience with the dealer.

What does "certified" mean?

I am seeing 993 Turbo prices moving up. So, I think the actual number will be closer to $70 than $65. This assumes a clean PPI.

With a good PPI, I would shoot for 65K. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone.

My budget is somewhere in the 60s, so Im glad that's reasonable. Im not quite sure what they mean by certified. Maybe they had a porsche tech come in? The dealer is Segal motors, any feedback on them would be great.

I'll definately keep up the thread with updates as I go along.

I remember when searching for a Turbo 2-3 years ago, there were always about 50 examples for sale on AutoTrader. Now, that number hovers around 25 units.

Has anyone amused themselves lately, and done a Kelly Blue Book value check? Not that KKB is the bible for 993 values (but better than Bruce Anderson) but directionally we are doing very well the past year or so.

This is some of the reasons why I think 993 Turbo prices have moved north.

No HTwo- I just noticed that exact same thing! My search was about 2+ years ago and there were always 45-55 of the 993 Turbo's for sale on AutoTrader. The last few times I looked there were 25 or so for sale. These Turbo's are holding their prices WAY better than my stock portfolio lately!

They mean it's certified up to Ontario safety standards so you can license the car. I'd say $65K Cdn is about right for a private sale...you'll pay more from a dealer.

Segal has good cars but very expensive. He has a '97 C4S with 17,500 miles for $69K. My '97 C2S with 14,000 miles is $57,900. He seems to always be $10K plus over a private sale.

I guess the question is how much more. Like I said, Im willing to pay somewhere in the 60s. We'll see how set in stone that price is. Also, how much is a PPI?

from many customers that have dealt with him, he does not negotiate on price...take it or leave it. it is worth checking to familiarize yourself but I would be very suprised if he would sell it for 77k.
good luck with your search but with your budget I think you will be buying a high mileage car or at least waiting for winter.
is there even a thing as extended leather on a turbo?

Parnelli, run a KBB value check on your Turbo for a Private Sale in "good" condition. I'll bet you a beer, the value will be about $8-12,000 more than you paid for your car 2 years ago. We should start a whole new thread about this, alone.

Like I said, KBB is not the bible, but the direction is the key.

Segal sells very good product and has an excellent reputation from everyone I have spoken to who have bought from him. Danny is right about his priciing though - no matter the season he will not negotiate.
