Barney Gets Some New Shoes
Barney landed in my Driveway on March 4th and since then I have put very few miles on him. Family, work, travel (for work), snow and gravel on the roads…..well, basically “Life” has just has other plans for me since his arrival. Additionally, for me personally, I had to do something about the wheels. The black wheels just were not working for me. They didn’t in pictures and seeing them in person on the car didn’t help. I figured that since I now had a car had I have dreamed about for a long time, why not get the wheels I dreamed about for a long time: The Fikse FM5? Their amazing simplicity and clean look has always appealed to me, no matter what car they are on.
I found a set of 18’s here on RL for sale with tires and bought them as quickly as Paypal would allow me. A few days after they arrived, I found an ad for a set of 19” Profil5’s (virtually identical to the FM5) and I figured that I could go that route and put the tires I removed from Barney to good use. The downside (again for me) was that they had black centers. The seller of the 19’s was none other than Jeff Alton and naturally, he has the resources to “correct” the black centers. We talked on the phone, discussed some options, struck a deal and little bit later I had some STUNNING wheels sitting on my door step!!!
The final product is 19x8.5 ET44 and 19x11 ET51 and they wear 235/35 and 305/30. They have polished lips with Porsche Arctic Silver centers. I am REALLY pleased with how they turned out and the service and pricing I received from Jeff and Pacific Western Motorsport!!!!

Nice! I've never liked black wheels much on "modern" cars, with the exception of the Fuchs on the classic 911's...

Thanks to all for the compliments. The black wheels didn’t work for me on ANY level either and I REALLY had to look past them when I was buying the car. Glad I did though!

Nice.
I used to see that car at the Bear Mtn car show on occasion.
Was there last night...are you in the area? If so, would be a cool place for you to go on Wed nights.

Yeah, Jeff made me aware of his/your local forum a month or so ago. I started poking around every once and a while. Just happen to stumble across the pictures I sent Jeff and thought I would throw out my first post.
