I would bet the Porsche dealership did not do a PPI. They did a "multi point inspection". Most Porsche dealerships do not offer PPI's any longer (Calli for example).

We Americans are a litigious culture.
Great points, but if it were me I would still complain to the dealer. Missing a worn clutch and oil leak is unacceptable regardless of whether it is called a PPI or multi-point inspection. I guess the real lesson here is to avoid dealers.

Is it possible the clutch is oil contaminated from a rear main oil seal leak ?

well, i'm in the Philippines now and the car is just garaged in SFO. when my friend came by to take the car around, he said there was a lot of white smoke so we got concerned. anyway, sent the car to RMG this time (i figured the first shop i brought it to didn't really know that much about 993s). RMG didn't see anything wrong but are working on putting check valves and replacing a torn reinforced hose going to the turbo -hopefully this time everything will work well.

I'm no lawyer either but have lots of experience in Small Claims Court....tenants, construction companies, travel agencies, etc. and if you have a "sue 'em yourself" court system where you are, you really don't have anything to loose. The "little guy" has a huge advantage in this type of setting.
