Re Protsports
John (engines) and Paul (suspensions) are probably one of the best 993 Turbo tuners in North America.
They know their sh*t around P cars, are honest, reliable and 110% on deliverables.

They transformed my Turbo into a completely new and very driveable street and track vehicle.
I just wish they were closer to Quebec.

FWIW, I understand a rule of thumb is (with a sound engine) ~ 35HP/0.1 bar of add'l boost.

im 16/16g , with protomotive, 5bar fpr etc etc - very very scary, once i achieved my huge grin factor i dialed down the boost, just pull it out the bag every now and then to scare the sh%t out of non believers. (it works)

Very few 993tts have over 650hp for racing and those which do require rebuilds every 20 hours which can include new heads, they also have the obigatory $20K Secan intercoolers.
If you search the forum we talked about this subject endlessly and in fact it prompted Bill S to invent the 60-130mph measurement (which is now reverred by the bling crowd) AFAIK non of VB's 560hp cars ever did a 60-130mph measurement, if they did it should come in around 7.5s with 2 gearchanges.

I did search, which was a prime reason for my skepticism.

There is my story somewhere of me buying a set of Kevin's K16 stage 3 (or was it 4 or 5 ) turbos. This is in the era of the talk of 600+hp being an easy bolt on and these turbos had massive compressors and fully machined hot sides and were said to be able to flow much more than a K24.
I paid for the engine to be engine dyno tested with these turbos on and it made 475hp as was with a possibility of making 500 with tweaking, I can't believe a new compressor would make any more power than these.

Good god this is why I dont post here anymore. I have nothing to prove to anyone here. Be skeptical, I dont care. Been there, done that and try to pass on info. Yes when we did these things was back before all the datalogging 60-130 stuff TB. I have moved on to mostly racing now with newer Porsches. If you are in doubt ask guys I raced with in CA, or any of my 993TT customers (many Rennlisters).

Hey Bob! Que Pasa amigo?
This is why I brokered the famous Viper Bob V Jimmy The Felon matchup at Big Willow. The loser was to buy me a beer.
I got stiffed on the beer tho....

Jimmy says he won, but not by much.
You car was stupid fast. (But I'll wager another beer you had more than 4K into upgrades! )

You compared a built 3.8L vs a stock 3.6L with bolt ons? What kind of out outcome were you expecting? From what I recall VB's engine was stock with bigger turbos, IC & intake mods.

Ask them what ? do they have datalogs or just slurp up your koolaid ?

You think I am bothered about this anymore ? I paid the money and tested the K16s on an engine dyno and they cannot flow much more than 500hp - This information is free to 933tt Rennlisters - they can make their own minds up

All I can add is that Protosport did my Protomotive Stage 2 upgrade in 2002/3. I've owned since 2003 and have NO problems. Car runs like a top and is "shall we say" quick. I would like to dyno but neede to disconnect the 4x4 system to do so safely. I would love to put my turbo's in front of the cats, but my SO doesn't think I need to spend the $$. She thinks it's fast enough. Foolish woman.

Spartan,

Isn't that kinda the gist of this thread?
From what I recall, VBs car was anything but stock.
But it's been a while and it was all in good fun.
(Other than the fact I could not make it that day and got no beer.)
I have nothin' but love for both VB and JTF, as they were both brave enough to instruct me as a noob track driver.
