Question New Challenger 480hp vs Used 993TT.

Guys,

U've probably heard of the new (upcoming) Dodge Challenger 2011, SRT8 - with 480hp (may be 490!). It's an awesome car with great 70's heritage

I'm thinking of ordering this car, as 2nd in line to my current '97 993TT. But I got an offer from one '96 993TT owner, though not firm, to sell his love for a reasonable price - if the financial need arises! So, nothing sure in this respect.

What would you guys - current 993TT owners - do, choose, given the opportunity!

This subject may sound way way!! off topic for 993TT maniacs (me included ), but I really liked the look, specs, features of this nostalgically revamped model of the Challenger. Its an Made in America power house!

Opinions, thoughts, views be appreciated!

let me make sure I understand the situation...you have a 97 993TT...you have an opportunity to buy another 993TT a 1996...unless the 96 993TT is unique in terms of color and options or your 97 is a beater....I would keep the 97 and order the Challenger...

Neither of the above

My 993TT is in showroom condition. That's exactly why I may want to buy another, (if the opportunity arises - price wise), so I can really enjoy the hell out of it...

Cheers , Buck.

I'm still confussed. You want to keep the 1997 993 Turbo a garage queen and possibly buy the 1996 Turbo (or the Challenger) to drive and enjoy? Do I have this right now??

I get the Dodge Challenger/Charger models confused... is the challenger the 4-door or is it the pony car? If I were going to buy a pony car now, it would be the Mustang Boss 5.0 Laguna Seca edition.

Any new car you buy today, especially a Mopar, will take a horrible depreciation hit. Drive and enjoy your 1997 993 TT.

Yes NoH2O. Right on.

I mean look, far as I know, most of us here - 993TT owners - love, adore, cherish them cupcakes so much, with all the care in the world. They are truly special, indeed rare (the low mile, 'clean' ones). I've invested so much in this car, that my heart want let me enjoy it. Just love looking at (more of staring really). I would think its about time, if possible, that I enjoy this car - 993TT.

I've had 993TTS, almost new, when crashed - total loss/big time, few years ago. I lived years of regret. Sad part of history. Even the dealer, staff there, all were sad to see it 'gone' - was true best example of Porsche 993TTS. History.....will not repeat itself (that's what they say, or is it the other way!!).

The Challenger is the one that American independence was won from the British.

Sell the 1997 garage queen. Buy both the 1996 Turbo daily driver and the new Challenger. Solved. Next!

Elporscha, if you want to look at something pretty in your garage, I can send you an 8x10 glossy of me! Or you can just hang up one of those "tool supplier" calendars.

Wish I had your problem. With the 993 as a daily driver you will not qualify for collector car insurance. Meaning you will have coverage based on book value not a pre-fixed amount which can be a problem if the car is stolen or totalled. With the newer daily driver that problem goes away.

just drive the 97...sure you'll lose some money, but there is really no point in having two. Cars are dreadful investments, so you may as well get some use out of it if its gonna lose value/be flat anyways.
