Careful driving to Canepa's. I used to live in Santa Cruz and know that it is a potentially very dangerous/expensive place to go.

Both a 993TT and a ZR1 weight roughly 3300lbs from what I can tell. If the Andial motor makes 520 then the ZR1 has a 118HP advantage. If the ZR1 has traction issues then it does not seem to bother skilled drivers that have driven it and 997 Turbos/GT2s where the ZR1 handily went around the tracks faster.

It will be curious to see the durability of the ZR1... Maybe we can swap cars at Thunderhill someday to give Q a chance to relive some 993TT fun

Where did you come up with the 520 horsepower number for Don's car?

i figured a solid motor, upgraded turbos, and a decent tune would get you somewhat close.

Who knows, it could make 450bhp.

Don has a unique car in that it's a non sunroof and reasale red that has been well maintainted. I happen to know one of the 3.8 that was converted to a full GT2 spec (and I mean everything) went for well over a $100K.

In the marketplace high mileage may take it's toll, but I have no doubt that you'll see these Andials at the auction houses bringing over $100-200K in a few years. Guy's do you know what Yenko Camero's still bring!

As for the ZR1 it's a 1:29 car at WSIR out of the box even with Justin Bell drivng (not the hotest shoe), so
only the ACR is in the only sub 1:30 car I've seen totally stock. I'm anxious to see how the ZR1 will hold up to some real track use. I know several of the Andial cars were in the 1:28's so there is still a lota performance is the 3.8's that are set up.

So you basically pulled a number out of the ether.
I'm not sure why you seem to want to talk Don's car down.

Obviously I'm biased, since I sold my FVD 490 kit modded car after driving back to back in it and Blackie at Big Willow to get my Andial. (The chap that bought Blackie sold his RUF to get his.)
Not to get into internet armchair debates, but according to Andial, for your $50+ k you get 575 HP on their engine dyno with the newer FVD based 3.8 twin plug ecu, and with the old dual map system by Theilert, it was 571 on the street gas program and 630 on the race gas program. What I'm getting at is its a little more than a decent tune and upgraded turbos.

Sorry to see you selling your car. You have been a great source for technical assistance around here, so try and stick around once you sell.

Question for you hardcore Andial guys. At what point is an Andial built engine no longer considered an Andial? Say for instance you have an Andial 3.8 engine built and somewhere down the road when that engine gets tired, you rebuild it by a different shop other than Andial. Is it still an Andial? It seems that when you buy an Andial you are buying a service rather than a product.

Anyhow, good luck with the sale!

Hmm: Interesting question my dear Watson:

Andial says they will continue to support the registered cars. So you CAN take it there still.

To use Jimmy's analogy, is a Yenko Camaro always a Yenko Camaro? I bet most Yenkos have been worked on by others by now since Don Yenko is no longer with us.

Is a Ruf always a RUF if you take it to your local wrench for some work?

I say yes.

Even living where I do I like the idea that if I wanted serious modifications to the motor or needed serious repairs, I could simply crate it up and ship it to SoCal.

Well, it's monday and I don't see an ad. So is someone who's pm'ed Don getting it? We're on page 3 so lots of interest despite the miles. I must admit some interest too.

Sorry, busy day. The price is $55K or best offer. I'm open to all offers, as I don't need two sports cars. I may say no, but won't get mad. No trades, financing or consignments. Just had my shop go over it completely and give it a fresh oil change. Everything works great and someone is going to have a lot of fun. Comes with 15 years worth of manuals, microfiche, magazine articles and Porsche press release packages. I'm very willing to deliver this anywhere in the lower 48 for expenses. I'll get a regular ad up as soon as I can figure out pics and links. I welcome questions, either here or at 805-546-0764
