I discuss with a friend of mine in Italy about someone who bougth a 996 GT2 because of his value for the money, but I disagree with Ihm when he comes to future value !
996 997 and so on will not hold value because they are mass production cars
IMHO

Look at the front view of each car, then check your pulse rate after each. You will know who the winner is.

To remove all doubts, park a 2003 Boxer in there as a prop.

I no longer have a dog in this fight, but no one has mentioned that the 996gt2 has a notorious handling problem. The factory didn't get it right and the public suffered with nearly 25% crashed.
I have had track encountors with various level of stock and modified GT2's and unless your very accomplished hot shoe this car is not for you.
James Sofrones said it best "we know everything that doesn't work on the suspension." Meaning a very difficult car to get right in the hands of a pro driver.

I haven't been in yet alone driven anything faster than my current car and I continue to be totally blown away by its performance. These 993TT Porches are awesome!

I think the gt2 got the rep as a widowmaker because it was so raw and unbridaled, ~500hp, RWD, no nannies, inexperienced drivers...not so much from a poor suspension.

A 996gt2 is a wild beast on the track, in a good way in the right hands. One of my favs, always on the lookout for one.

Willhoit's GT2 looks brand new, and it should with only 5k miles. Here is a link to the car.
