I have a set of leftover 997.1 GT3 front brakes (calipers, pads and rotors), who sells adaptors for my 993?
I understand rotors are useless, but calipers could be a nice upgrade over my stock Big Reds... dont know if just for looks or if they'll perform any better.
Would changing their mounting location from trailing to leading affect their performance? dont they have different size pistons which should aid in pad wear or is it in braking performance?
would you do it?

Definitely not. Not worth the effort, hassle and cost of finding someone who fabricates the required custom brackets.
If you are a hardcore track junkie, suggest you sell your stock setup and buy 4 piston 380mm GT2 brakes or Brembo..if your wheels don't fit them, you can get the 6 piston 350mms
If you don't qualify as one, I would keep the stock setup with proper pads, oil and discs.
