There is nothing like learning the hard way about spare parts. I broke an alternator belt and barely made it home on the battery. However, I had to wait 4 days because neither of the 2 Porsche dealers in state had the alternator belt in stock or even the 0.5mm shims. Seemed odd that they didn't have the belt.
1. So the first lesson learned is carry a spare alternator belt and might as well carry a spare fan belt as you are not going 200 yards without a fan.
2. The second lesson is to also carry the necessary tools to change your own belts. 10mm 12pt, 24mm wrench, Leatherman tool to cut off the a/c belt if necessary (but should carry that one as a spare also) and other tools to get access to the belts.
