I remember when that first happened with the 996, crossing below the 993. It seems like it happened even faster this time with the 997. It is all the more shocking now because 1) people seem to think of the 996 as clearly the least desireable turbo ever (i.e., least able to hold its value), and 2) the 996 was dropping below a 5 year old car when it dropped below the 993 at the time, not a 10 year old car. Kudos to the 993 Turbo!

Only an idiot would pay more for this car than for a low mile 997tt.

Hmmm....the formula doesn't really work for higher mileage cars.

I.E. My 1996 @ 78,000 miles would then be worth $22k?

I'll take the credit/blame for that approximation. See the post here from a few years ago where I suggest that, and a more accurate approximation:

So your car would be about 49k according to that approximation.
