I had the new rotors from my big black brake upgrade for the 951 electroless nickel plated to ensure a rust free surface when the car sits for extended periods of time. I spent a decent amount of $$ on the new brake set up, so it made sense to go the extra mile. I thought that considering they are 993tt front rotors, you guys would have interest in seeing the result also.
The local firm I used were amazing (Classic Plating). They had done rotors before, but never anything like the 2 piece 993tt front rotors & they tackled the job with an enthusiastic & very meticulous attitude. The result is simply beautiful.

Can't wait to get these installed....

looks pretty, but I question functionality. If the contact surface is only plated then it will wear off after a few applications of the brake, thus exposing steel surface which will rust again defeating the purpose, no?

Dave, you're right. The nickle will wipe off pretty quick. I bet the cleanliness of the hat area will be easier to keep fresh looking in the long term. Be sure an post pics after the install, Mr. Nurburger...

The purpose would be to keep all the areas that do not come in contact with the pad surface from rusting and looking like poo. I've done something similar and it works really well

The contact surface of the rotor was masked using a latex like coating, which allowed the plating to seep into the interior of the rotor around the fins while leaving the faces bare.

OK. Got it. I was following your logic from the start. Be sure and post some pics later...
