Default Remove shifter boot/console

I searched first but did not find a simple answer...

My shifter pulls up and needs to have the set screw tightened. How is the easiest way to get at it? It rattles and is annoying as some say I am It is the alum/leather shifter.

Also looking to hard wire my V1..

So need to get at the switches or will take suggestions as to where to hard wire to.

The sunroof switch already has a boost controller hard wired into it (done prior to me).. Can I use the rear wiper switch? If so how do I remove the cover..

I know how to remove all this on a 996TT but not on a 993TT...

Thanks

You will need to remove three pieces of the centre console, starting with the rear-most - (two black screw). Then for foremost - again two screws - you will need to push out the switch gear at this point. The middle is fixed by four screws. At this point you can get at the holding collar for the gear **** where I think you will find your rattle. From memory there is a hex screw to loosen here and it comes away. Then the gear leaver rubber boot and its mounting plate can be accessed - four small bolts, if I recall. At this point the linkage /tunnel can be seen and accessed.

I suspect the rattle comes from a cylindrical aluminium collar that sits on the shifter shaft where the leather cover to the rubber boot is bunched and attached/fitted to the saft. This collar is like your appendix - seems to serve little useful purpose. I tossed mine. No more rattle. If your rattle can be stopped by grabbing and tensioning the top of the leather boot cover just under the ****, this will be your problem.

Cheers.

hold the phone.

All you should have to do is push down on the left side of the boot where it enters the console (about 1 inch from the front and one inch from the rear (thats where the clips are). Then the right side just pops out.

At that point, twist the boot till it comes out and then tighten the set screw.

There's no set screw on the standard 993tt shifter - there are two rubber bits (34 and 35) and a steel wire clip (36).

It is an alum shifter **** and brake, not the standard leather.. I can feel a set screw under the leather..

Today I hard wired in the V1.. Tomorrow I will attempt to unclip the boot.
