Default Went out in a 997 C4S

A friend of mine was buzzing when he turned up yesterday with his georgeous looking 997 C4S. It's got GT3 wheels and heaps of options, full leather and so on. So we went for a drive and the first thing that disturbed me was I couldn't hear anything at all. It's like I was in a Lexus with stiffer suspension.
The CGT silver looks awesome though.
He went WOT and sadly I had to lie and act like I was impressed. It was very under whelming and way to quiet for me unforturnatley. I was expecting more to be honest. Sure it can fly but the NA 993's are superior in just about every way too me.
The TT is in another league for fun factor, in another world.
What I didn't like was the interior, everything seems square and not rounded like the 993's. I guess it all comes down to costs.
I did like the cup holders though
I could own one as a DD maybe, but thats never going to happen.
Just can't get over how quiet it was.

agree with you about quiet, this car needs sport exhaust for some noise.

surprise that you don't like the interior, which I thought is the best 911 interior ever.

I guess I just like the classic interior. Thats all. It is nice but no smells. I love the leather smells and the ancient layout.

i agree, there really is no comparison between the two cars. was it 997.1 or 997.2?

It's an 07. Not sure about the 1 or 2 with these models.

I just had a brilliant thought!!!!!!
I should market one of those hang-on-the-rear-view-mirror air fresheners that smells like oil, hot metal, and old school leather and shape it like a 993 for the sensory deprived 996,7 owners.

IMHO one of the things that is sorely missed in the 996/7's is a real shifter linkage. The shifter in the newer cars is like a joystick and gives you no feedback of engine vibration.
