Default RUF Turbo At Auction

Hi Folks.

Anyone know anything about this RUF Turbo being auctioned by Barrett-Jackson in January? I would greatly appreciate any info including an estimate of a reasonable selling price. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Something is a little odd there, 420bhp? The stock 993 is 408bhp! Maybe it was just Ruf wheels and some other Ruf bits? And the 420bhp Porsche ECU...

It's a Targa...so 420hp upgrade seems reasonable.

IIRC, Park Place Ltd. in Bellevue WA has/had that car for sale.

I'm assuming it does not have a Ruf VIN #.
Didn't see the VIN# in the ad.

IIRC, there was a RL member from Europe (Sweden) who built a Turbo Targa (which obviously was never a factory option).

Easy enough to contact Ruf (in the US) and see if they have any info on the car.

Love the idea of a Turbo Targa ...

+1 it was a while back, they had it listed for $70K if i remember correctly...not a Ruf Vin car just a conversion. I was actually considering to buy this one but after I saw this I had seconds thoughts: http://www.parkplaceproblems.com/

to my recollection it's a BTR conversion which accounts for the 420hp.

+1 and it's the single turbo. I've driven a BTR coupe and it's a wild and wooly beast. The Turbo R (see pjconner, among others) is their twin turbo car and is quoted at 490hp, but really pushes 510.

Many thanks to you all for the great info. I understand you're saying that it's not an original RUF car but that the conversion was likely done by RUF, right?

There are two sides to every story, so a single-sided "anti THEM" website may not be the best indicator of a company.

From my experience, which includes buying enough cars from Park Place that I can't remember the number anymore, including my 993TT, they are a fine place to buy a car.

Likely, yes but it should be confirmed. Could have been done by Ruf in Germany, Ruf Dallas or previous owner could have flown someone over from Germany to convert.

The car was listed on a Washington state (I believe) Craigslist by the owner, about 2 years ago. Really cool, rare conversion - I'd grab it if I could!

This auction reads to me that it is a 993 Targa that has been given the RUF treatment. Recommend that you obtain the VIN number and validate everything with RUF directly.
