Hard pipes instead of factory intercooler hoses
Show of hands who would be interested in aluminum hard pipes that replace the factory soft intercooler hoses?
Local shop has made these on an as needed basis for 993tt's. Real nice setup that eliminates hose connections at the turbos and runs thick walled aluminum tubing to the IC. I could ask them to do a group buy if there is enough interest.
The install is a bit more complicted because you need to pull the compressor covers off to have the end machined to accept 2 large O rings. This is how they get around needing a hose clamp on the compressor side.

I would be interested except I think most would prefer something more like what Viperbob was offering with short lengths of silicon hose at either end of the pipe.

On the IC side it has a short length of silicone hose. I will talk with the shop to see if it can be done that way instead on the turbo side to make the install easier.

I just replaced both of my IC hoses with OEM reinforced hoses. So I am not interested yet. But if these fail, I will be. But I still have nightmares about installing these darn things - it was hard!
Add new intercooler hoses to the list of "while you are in there" parts if you ever drop your engine!

I was looking at making carbon hard pipes with vulcanized rubber ends, my brother is in the aircraft industry and spent the first 15 years as a pattern maker. It all looked really good in theory but when we worked out what the tooling would cost, plus the time in the autoclave, materials etc etc it just didn't work. Shame really as they would have been beautiful things, just ridiculously expensive!
I'd be interested in some hard pipes, has anyone got a link to Viper Bob's ones?

Having wiggins clamps on both ends of these would be king, but costly as both the compressor and the IC would have to me modified to accept wiggins clamps.

Factory hoses are $200+ each and tear at the IC end from normal wear and tear. They also pop off as they age. While porsche tried to solve the problem by applying kevlar on top of the hose the rear problem remains. Seems to be mostly the passengers side where the hose bolts to the IC. Hard pipes would solve the problem once and for all.

How much are the hard pipes? My engine will be out sometime in the next few months, so while it's out, I could install the pipes.
