Newbie Looking for a 993 Turbo
Hello all,
I'm new to Porsches, never owned one but have always loved them.
I'm in the market for a 993 Turbo and would like some insight as to what to look for.
There is one for sale near where I live that has approx. 69K miles. I've seen and driven the car and it's is amazing to say the least.
Owner says the turbos have been rebuilt, it has Fab speed exhaust and high flow cats. The drivers side check strap may need to be replaced in the near future. The clutch releases a bit high (I'm not sure if this is normal for 993's) but there is no grabbing or chatter issues. Synchros seem to work just fine. Under the vehicle, some of the cosmoline is wearing away. No noticeable leaks on the underside. It has a PSS10 suspension and the car is corner balanced. Very minor paint dings from normal driving. It has wood trim interior and I believe the leather interior looked somewhat like lavender?? Has dual power comfort seats.
Anyone have thoughts on what else to look for? Your hellp is much appreciated!!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's silver and located in CA.
I couldn't get past the wood dash / shifter and the interior color but if you can, it seemed reasonably priced at 52K IIRC.
Get a PPI from a reputable independant shop. I'm sure if you post your location here or on the 993 NA forum, someone will recommend a good wrench.
Cheers,

be sure to have ppi with leakdown test...best to witness in person to get aquainted with the car.
the wood interior is very "unique".
looks like you picked the best porsche to start with.
good luck

To answer one of your questions, clutch engagement point is a little tircky on these cars. It is near the top of the travel and pretty narrow range of engagement. You'll get used to it, but everyone I've ever let drive my car stalls it right away.
