OK I posted this in the west coast forum but I'll re-post in case someone here can help

OK I'm new to the all wheel drive world and live in the bay area California. Question is, where do I get a 993 TT smog checked? Since the car is all wheel drive is there a special place I need to take the test that has two dyno's or can I take it to a regular smog check location?

Also does anyone know of a specific location in the bay area preferably near the San Francisco Area.

Thanks!!!

the wood interior is very "unique".
looks like you picked the best porsche to start with.
good luck
Decent P-car repair shops that do PPI's around los Altos. May be others that specialize in just Turbos....

AWD cars won't Dyno. The TT is exempt for that test in CA.
Shouldn't be a problem at any station.

You can also try S-Car-Go in San Rafael, Rob works mostly on 993 turbos and knows these cars well.

I get my car smogged at the Chevron station on Homestead Road in Los Altos right next to Trader Joes. You just have to tell the folks that the car is AWD and does NOT go on the dyno. 10 minutes and you are done

Yeah I saw the silver '97 Turbo. Decent asking price but I'm not crazy about the interior color. I'm getting the Arena Red for considerably less and with lower mileage (39,xxx miles). Plus I know the previous 2 owners.

Yes, the current owner has brought it to the Stable for new valve guides, springs, belts etc... They're a bit expensive though.

I heard good things about Metric Motors in the city.

Awesome, that's so good to know!! Do you take it to a test only station or can you take it to a regular smog station. I know older certain cars need to be taken to test only stations, is that the case with the 1996 993's?
