I know this is a C R A Z Y question but do any of you guys run your cars thru an automatic car wash? I just spent 2 backbreaking hours once again washing the car. I know these cars are low to the ground and many find it sacred NOT to send them thru an auto wash but it's killing me. Thx for any thoughts.

It sounds like labor is your problem. If you want to wash the car without doing the work, take it to a reputable detail shop and they will wash it right. No reason to send it through the gauntlet of an autowash.

When I mean "low" I don't mean getting in and out of it. I mean the car may be to low to go thru a car wash. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind washing it often. I do, though, drive it often and sometimes just don't have the time to keep it washed.

dude, its your car, do what you want. Its far from the best thing for the paint or the wheel lips, but the car isn't gonna fall apart. Most people on here are so super **** they cry if a bug hits their paint. Worst case, you pay a professional detailer to give it a top notch quarterly detail and touch up the wheels.
Don't worry too much about it.

For the first 3 years of ownership I took mine through car washes regularly; it's not a problem. However, I've decided to start hand washing it simply because car washes tend to dull the paint a bit.

I had a Ford SVT Lightning and Ford said not to (I wouldn't anyway) use automatic car washes because the hydrofloric acid used in the wash mix would etch the windshield glass.
I'm pretty sure it was hydrofloric acid. Anyway, regardless of what acid it is, the damage to paint is a scary proposition when paint jobs cost $$$$$...

You may want to check out the thread on TopCoat. YMMV.
One of its selling points is it releases dirt more easily form the car. So hand rinse may get you closer to clean "enough" for daily use in between serious cleaning on the weekend.
