Default OT: very sick little girl

It saddens me that this has happened. My 17 Y/O neice has been at Otago University for barley a month. On Thursday night they went for a Subway at 8.30pm, 5 girls, no drinking and no speeding. A tourist from Israel came around the corner on the wrong side of the road and took them out. He died at the scene and 5 girls survived. Two critical of which one is my niece. Sadly her friend passed away yesterday and Tessa is in surgury as I type. One of many no doubt.
She has many broken ribs, shoulders, collapsed lung, broken this and broken that but the worse thing is she is on life support for a bleed on the brain. Also small parts of her brain have come away. Theres also some possible spinal damage due to a fracture at the base of her neck. I'm feeling sick.
Shes in a terrible mess and in an induced comer.
Sorry to post this here. We are all hopeing for the best.
See, it's not allways alcohol, speed or drug related.

Oh my God. I will say a prayer for her and you and all family and friends.

That is so sad, and I see it waaay too much.

That breaks my heart.

Your niece and her family will be in my prayers. Hard to imagine such carnage in a peaceful place like New Zealand. This really puts our lives in the proper perspective.

Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

Thankyou for your thoughts. It means a lot, even from the other side of the world from people i have never met.
Unforturnatley they have had to cancel the surgury due to some other spinal damage, so hopefully the scan tommorrow will reveal more.
They have warned us about a few things which I hope are very wrong.
Thanks again. Been a tough day. It can't get any worse.

My heart goes out to you, her family and the families of all the victims (including the driver). All will be in my prayers.

I cannot imagine what your family is going through. That is my worst fear. Prayers and thought to you and your family, and all those involved.
