Default will a Ruf BTR Turbo pass smog in Cali?

as the title states..anyone of you guys know if a 993 Ruf Btr conversion will pass smog in Cali legally. I know about some techs that will pass it with a little bit of help from "benjamin" but I just want to go the legal route.

I suspect that you are looking at the BTR at RUF Dallas. (Great car) And I expect that you have asked them the question. What did they say?

The Turbo R conversions were all 50 state compliant. That doesn't answer your question. Alois Ruf was always trying to meet US emissions.

How does CA inspect OBDI cars? Sniff test?

Sorry I can't help.

As I understand it will pass. CP's car is a BTR and it's here in CA.

Ruf's tuning isn't that extreme and should pass. CA classifies 96-97 porsche's as "gross poluters" and must be hooked to the smog stations computer which is linked with Sacramento so your not going to get somebody to sign you off becasue they can't. Also, don't let them put it on the dyno.

I believe that CP's Ruf BTR passes smog without a hitch. I have a question for JJay... since the BTR is 2WD, what's the harm in putting it on the dyno?

Jjay - The car is a 1995, so it may not raise any flags.

The car would run like a scalded ape in those perfect Norcal temps.

But then again I am probably a bit biased.

PM for thoughts.

My BTR passes CA smog from day one. Passed many times by now. Not all BTRs are 2WD. It depends on the original doner car. If that's a C4, then it's a BTR-4, a C2 will become a BTR-2. Mine is a BTR-2.

997for 40,

Where about are you in Nor Cal?

Then Ruf BTR-2 it is. Is that a C2, or a C2S?

Thanks.

Pong, if you are asking about the RUF that forhamilton is talking about - which is for sale at RUF Dallas. It is Marvin's old car. (You saw in when in Dallas) Forhamilton bought it from Marvin and it is now for sale again.

95 narrowbody c2 with btr conversion.

Am I confused? If so, sorry for the post.

the one they have for sale is a 95 BTR2 conversion.......the weird thing about this car is that they had it for sale at 15xxx miles for $75900 and now with 20718 miles for $89900..what's going on here? Did they do $14K worth of work in between?

Yes they did!

And based on the rarity of these cars, a price is hard to nail down.
