Wow... after reading non-stop for the last couple days, I'm even more confused than I was before about my exhaust/muffler choices... all I know is that I want a muffler bypass, and a 100 cell cat... I just don't know whose...

As for ECU, I'm most likely going with UMW...

Here is what I plan...
1. One or two track days per year ( I have other track vehicles)
2. Lots of spirited highway bursts, and shadow racing at lights...
3. I ONLY use Sunoco 94 Octane (readily available everywhere near me)
4. I am looking for 450-480 reliable hp (without changing turbos)(yet)
5. I don't want to break the bank with this car (have other priorities)

I like the Fister D method... but the problem is th at I have very limited time, and am not able to remove my exhaust and leave the car as is... I kind of want to just pay, and have it shipped to me....

Fabspeed Motorsports now offers a *new* modular sportcat/catbypass system which features a 2-into-1 design utilizing HJS 200 cell catalytic converters or catbypass pipes. This modular system allows for a quick switch between a DD setup and a track setup with the use of quick release V-Band clamps. Two distinct sounds are available with the modular system which allow the enthusiast to tailor the sound to his/her preference. These work with the stock headers and mufflers for a very easy installation and perfect fitment. This is a great system for the 993TT which is used for both a DD and track oriented vehicle because you can switch between the two setups in less then 10min. We have these systems in stock & ready to ship.
System with 200 cell sport catalytic converters & catbypass pipes $2,195
System with only catbypass pipes $1,695.
P.M. or email Joey@fabspeed.com for more information about the Modular Sportcat/Catbypass Pipes.

Josef,
maybe you can share your opinion here. Many on this board have experienced fitment issues and had trouble with fabspeed not returning calls or emails. these individuals have proven very competent at other endeavors so why issues with fabspeed. I am not trying to knock you just wanted to give an opportunity to give your side.
also what is the weight of the new exhaust system.

Josef,
Quick question, what is the outside diameter of the cats in your setup?

Thanks!

I'd love to know if the fitment issues have been resolved...

Let me know Josef...

I went back and forth with Fabspeed with 2 sets of cat by-pass pipes. The heater ducts were inches off. No way to make them fit. I had a local guy fix them at my own expense. Sorry to trash...but way to much money for bad workmanship. I always said....."pay more attention to the fitment than the high polish look"...I won't even go into the headers....

Fabspeed has corrected any/all fitment issues with the fabrication of the Modular System which allows more adjustability and simple installation with use of a three piece pipe. The TT pictured in my last post arrived at our shop with Cargraphic catalytic converters and we noticed the same issue regarding the heater pipe not lining up correctly similar to the one piece system we used to offer. We designed this modular unit so that we clear any issue with fitment and enable the shop/enthusiast to install without any headaches and thrown wrenches. As for the missed calls & emails, I express an apology and can attest that Fabspeed has strengthened through the years and we now provide full installation instructions on our website and have a team of technicians/fabricators with various engineering/racing/fabricating backgrounds who can be of assistance. The stock/OEM catalytic converters weigh 27.7lbs/12.6kg verse our system with catalytic converters which weighs 28.7lbs/13kg. The modular system with catbypass pipes weigh 19.9lbs/9.0kg.
MarkD: our Modular System is 2.75”/70mm from the four bolt flange into the 200 cell catalytic converters which then reduce to 2.5”/63.5mm the rest of the way out.
This system has been installed independently and by Fabspeed with no errors or fitment issues.

Thanks for the specs on the cats but I was wondering what the O.D. is on the cat itself.

Joey,

Thanks for the post, sounds like this setup would have definitely been a lot easier to get fit properly.

I have to say that the quality of the pipes and welds are excellent and I only had trouble with the fitment.

Joey, maybe you should give AHI a set at cost and have him document the install from a DIY standpoint for you to post on the site. It would certainly do away with some of the horror stories the other 993 guys had.

AT 80000 MILES i would caution against any major mods without first inspecting the Engines Health, Leakdown and Compression Test
