I don't know about you guys, but when I get a PM on Rennlist, it notifies me without reading the thread.

As for those scruffy headers, they do look strangely worse than most -- in any case, it's worth the effort to pull them off and grind down those flanges, but be conservative (and make sure to flush out the debris) you just want to smooth them, not ream them.

By the way, are there any "bolts" on the turbos or do you mean the studs and copper nuts are frozen -- not uncommon. If you're DIY'ing the installation, you need to be careful about the details -- I'm sure Imagineauto will send the necessary instructions.

No I have all the necessary instruction and then some. Just a couple of hex bolts that hold the oil resevoirs to the turbos were in there pretty tight and after they came out, I just wanted to put fresh hardware back in. No real issue.

ITS ALIVE!!! The K24's are on. I hooked up the new ECU and 5bar FPR. The job was held up bc the used turbos I bought did not come as advertised and needed a rebuild. I sent them out to Durabilt and they came back looking and functioning better than new. It took some time and hassle & money, but once I got them back, putting them on wasn't so bad. The oil lines and hoses all went on pretty easily. I put the IC back on. Then the moment of truth....turning the ignition. Fingers were crossed and I hoped for the best, but was prepared for the worst. But one crank and it fired right up idled smoothly, no smoking, no oil drips, no issues. Brought it up to temp while checking oil levels. It is still on jack stands with no exhaust or bodywork, so there is work left to do. But the hard part is over! I have lots of pictures and even some video of the job. Cant wait to put some wheels on it and take her for a spin. The acid test will be April 18, my first trackday of the season at LRP. (then again @ WGI May 1,2,3)

Congratulations on the new born! I think there's provision in the road law for any Porsche with a newly assembled engine to be driven with no bodywork or exhaust just as soon as you can get it off the hoist and out the door. But it must be done between 10:00pm and 2:00am when the neighbors are surely asleep so the noise of the 993 turbo engine with nothing after the turbos gives them the full aural shock and awe.

I thought I read that provision as well. That will definitely be done!! I'll be sure to suction mount the video camera and give that a go. Sadly its going to have to wait a few weeks as I have a ski vacation which will eat up the next 2 weekends, but stay tuned!!

I was told the turbos I paid 2500 for were in great shape, and had about 11k mi on them. this is what I got....seller was apologetic and EVENTUALLY payed for the rebuild. The other one appeared OK, but I wasn't going to rebuild one without the other. So I shipped them off to Durabilt....

So while at durabilt, I was informed that both diaphragms in each actuator were punctured. (another $400) - So I am still working that out with the seller, but it is taking a lot of time. Anyhow, this is how they came back from Durabilt. Packaged carefully shrink wrapped and looking brand new, compressor wheels and hot side all looked completely new. I am very impressed and would recommend them to anyone. They will also do hybrids if you want to go that route.

Dave: My stock K24's with a '97 ECU and FVD progamming runs extremely well and reliably. You will love the power increase. Have fun. Pat

?how's this car coming along? I'm curious to hear how those Durabilt rebuilt turbos worked out. Hopefully there's a dyno run planned.
