Polar is my favorite. I originally liked the Silver, but now Polar seems more intense. Re-painting a car to a different color will kill the re-sale value, even if it's done properly, which requires repainting all surfaces, including the engine compartment, luggage compartment, door jams, etc.

For someone who knows a lot about paint and colours, why did you buy a car in a colour you did not research or check out in person?
I have had a meter on my car and can't recall the reading but lots of paint.
I second the idea to sell it and buy the colour you like...this time go see it in person first. I also like polar silver but not as much as black
either way these are great cars and the performance and feedback from driving it may make you forget the colour. good luck with whatever you decide.

I have a friend who went the other way he got a great deal on a 964Cab in Fuscia or some other odd color and then went on to do a full repaint to Arctic Silver. When he went to sell it years later he got market price of the original color because you can't hide a total repaint.
Bottom line is he lost the total cost of the repaint.

Good luck whatever you chose.

Polar Silver is very popular and depending on the model year an extra charge color. My 95 was Polar Silver with blue leather. Stunning.

I really love the Polar Blue, its very cool to see the blue come out in different light. It really does remind me of the subtle blue in a pure iceberg .

Thanks for the input, folks. After talking to the body shop (and my wife) it's not worth the extra money to paint it a different color. Factoring in resale losses as well as the expense above and beyond the exterior being finished in the same color, it's just a bad decision.

Regarding my decision to buy the car, it was advertised as silver and the photographs appeared silver with no blue hue, so I was never in doubt as to the color. Only when it arrived and I saw it in the shade within the trailer did I realize it was Polar. I really wanted a straight silver, so I was disappointed. That said, the rest of the car was great. Until a week later when someone hit me.

The car's not badly damaged, but I want it perfect and blended paint isn't perfect. I've spent most of my career in the automobile service and repair business and I can spot blended paint a mile away, hence the complete refinish. It's a shame that this requires a complete refinishing in my mind, but that's my peculiar form of dementia taking over:

Sad to see one of these cars like this but overall not a devistating hit.

FWIW, I have both Silvers and I find the Polar and warmer color both in the shade and in direct sunlight and until my 993TT I was too was a die hard Arctic fan.

Yeah, it's not heinous however many people may disagree with one of the modifications during repair. I'm having the drip rails removed:

A buddy of mine just had his removed by the same guy and the results are stunning:

Like LAT, I also would have preferred a straight silver color, but I'm now really happy that I ended up with the polar...it's more of a unique silver than the usual. Plus, my polar is definitely faster than Scott's artic!!

you should get rid of those ridiculous headlight washers while you're at it.
