I'm guessing that "529hp on RUF dyno" is referring to PS (metric hp), which converts to 521.75 SAE hp. I say this because, when I got the results of my motor on the RUF engine dyno, the hp was in PS and the tq was in NM - normal practice for a European tuner. Now I have to say that 521.75 SAE hp is nothing to be sneezed at, especially when the motor's sold as producing 490 "some kind" of hp. And it probably equates to tq of +/- 500 ft/lbs. I can live with that.

The dyno sheet from my car's conversion is almost exactly the same. Interesting.

Regarding the Ruf "plant" shutting down...come on, when they opened that everyone thought...."How are they going to sell enough product to keep it open?".....no surprise there. Its not like a Ruf is 20% more than an oe Porsche....maybe there's a market to support that type of business model at that $#, but as we all know, that's not the case w/Ruf....too bad, but no surprise.

Default Regarding Ruf

I drove my Ruf Turbo R out of customs at LAX in May of 2000 & ran my first open road race the following week. In a conversation with Alois I mentioned I could use more power. Alois met me in Sacramento & personally installed a new ECU. The following month his tech Joe flew in to Las Vegas & installed another ECU,new turbos and a 0.71 top gear. The low end to mid range improvement was dramatic. When I asked what the dyno # might be Alois smiled and asked if my Turbo R was fast enough now! It was.I have never been able to elicit a power # from Mr.Ruf. He always smiles and deflects my questions.

Cheers

R

P.S.
Big high five to Kevin who did a ZC rebuild on the turbos. They work really good.

Interesting

If so many can "improve" upon Ruf mods

Why bother go Ruf in the first place?

Be interesting to do a 60-130 time and extrapolate power from that.
