does that really say $2900?

wish this had popped up a couple of months ago... before I refreshed my existing turbos...
and the exhaust? This seems to be a very good deal.

A friend bought that car... the turbos need rebuilding, and the exhaust is just a modified 993 tt exhaust.

I wouldn't want to run a Ruf ECU without the Ruf cams it was tuned to run.

The thing to do would be buy the car and put it back together again with rebuilt turbos or for the existing owner of the car to buy the parts and doing just that.

Can the Ruf cams be purchased seperately from Ruf?

Niche bought Ima2nr's
"1996 Ruf Turbo R (PLUS)conversion (way more than 529.27 HP)"

From the ad:

So here is what you get!

1) The used pair of RUF turbos w/ approx 43,xxx miles on them when they were removed. The turbos work perfectly, I would recommend new seals, etc while they are out.
2) You get the 1996 original RUF programmed ECU.
3) I bought a brand new 5bar fuel pressure regulator (unopened) to complete this package!
4) You get the complete (turbos to tips) center exit exhaust!
5) I do not have the RUF camshafts, they were sold with the car. I’m told there are 2-3 aftermarket versions you can buy if you desire the cams to “complete” your upgrade.

Savie, can you explain more since the buyer was a friend?

Wow, so many conflicting info...

Here's what he said in his ad:

While I owned the RUF Turbo R, in my lust for ever more power, I removed my RUF turbos and installed modified 24g’s,I replaced the RUF ECU with a self programmable ECU, and I removed the fabulous center exit exhaust and had a “race version” exhaust fabricated to maximize my larger turbos. I look back and wish I’d left well enough alone, as I never really “topped” what RUF had done with this incredible package.

I can some factoids about this stuff. I had an opportunity to "road test" (approx 30 to 110 mph) my car against the mofidied Turbo R (now owned by Niche). His tranmission has been regeared for much shorter ratios, so as expected, he jumped me pretty good in the lower gears. As we got into the higher end, his car continued to pull another car length or so. I have no trouble believing that Niche's car is putting out 570 or 580 HP, just based on what I saw.

I can't view the ad, but I know that the original car came with a Ruf CTR-2 type center exhaust... quite different from the later system(s) that the previous owner had constructed.

As I said... factoids.

I'm the current owner of the car. I was thinking about getting the parts "just to have" also because athough the K24 are powerful there is definitely more lag than in say RUFUS. What made me hesitate was an e-mail from protomotive where they said:

"That car had k16/24’s on it from Ruf. We had retuned the car for him to get rid of some issues it had a while back. Rebuilding those turbos usually costs more than replacing them."

From that e-mail it seemed as though I probably wouldn't want to put the old ECU since I would have whatever "issues" back. From the seller I was told the exhaust was just nothing but a regular 993 tt exhaust that was modified, besides I LOVE THE CAR'S EXHAUST NOTE. The only thing I wanted were the turbos and they needed rebuilding so it seemed kind of expensive for turbos.

The work on the car definitely improved it as far as high-end power. I wouldn't change a thing...except the lag. There is no point to go back to less power for me. I just don't see how a regular TT would benefit from those parts?
