Badging a GT2 "look" 993
This subject always seems to raise emotions for some people. If I posted this on a UK forum I would get severely slated, the main accusation being of trying to make a lesser Porsche model look like a far more expensive one in an attempt to boost ones self esteem by impressing onlookers...
Well my car is NOT a GT2, it cost waaayyyy more than a GT2 to build and is a fast unique and personalised daily driver 4WD 993tt
I recently purchased this factory GT2 badge from Gert:
This is how the factory GT2 wears its badging:
Here of course is my "fakey":
What to do ? I was thinking of maybe chopping off the "GT" part and just displaying the "911" in the same place as factory so that purists may note the authentic badging and maybe take in the subtlety that this is in fact THE "911" and no more need be said.....
What do my esteemed RL colleagues think feel free to express frank opinions

TB,
knowing you only as portrayed by your many and finely crafted contributions on RL, it strikes me that you are probably not going to be too concerned with disenting views of the ignorant, insular and myopic.
Those who's opinion you value will know your "vision" and those who know the car will gladly defer to "911 GT". Afterall, she is a 911 and I cannot think of a more apt example of a Grand Turismo.
Use the whole badge - don't waste a bit! Its wiiiddde bodied afterall, you've got the space.

I say go "naked"! No badging at all. You know what the car is (and this is all that really matters at the end-of-the-day), who cares what other people think, know, or think they know what the car actually is.
It is always fun to be a little mysterious too!

I like the "911" without the GT. Is it a 911. People are troubled by "911 GT" being plastered on cars not just becuase they are not as expensive as a GT2s, but also becuase they are not actual GT2s. If you want to show how much you spent on it, why not badge it as "$400,000 911" or whatever you spent on it? Even if a car is twice as fast and as twice as expensive as a GT2, I don't think that putting "911 GT" on it is warranted.
No doubt that car is wicked fast and looks great; I just think it cheapens it a bit to put the "911 GT" on it.
How about a "Faster than a 911 GT" bumper sticker instead?

going "naked" makes it look like a clone... Why not just put it on.... It makes ppl wonder if it is the real thing... plus, just the rain gutter delete make it real special.... JMHO

Personally, I would go halfway. I.e. personalise the badge to reflect its uniqueness but have "GT" in there somewhere... I was thinking a long the lines of what the manufactureres/tuners do. E.g. Ruf has "RT12" and "Turbo R", Gemballa has "GT 750", etc. I'm not saying copy them, but something like that could work. Not too long or cumbersome. I tried a few variations with your initials as follows:
"911 GT-B" - B is the second initial in "TB". I'm assuming that the "B" is your surname.
"GT 911B" - this may be a bit too much...
"993TB GT" - definitely too much... but hey, a bit creative
I hope this gives you some ideas

Personally, I think the GT2 wing looks pretty good as it is (ie without badge). In the case with the Carrera RS small wing for example, it looks like there is something missing if there's nothing underneath it (IMHO). No matter what you chose, I wouldn't judge you. Eventhough Ziad's idea is good, I'm not so much for personalized badges. I like to keep the car clean and stock looking, ie either the "real" badge or nothing. Remember there's an option for all pcars (can't remember which number) but it's called - Modell Schriftzeug entfall, which means (Without rear model designation) - without badge..

I see no problem with using the "Badge" -- which btw was/is a sticker on original.
If car is "replica" by and large in spec--why not?
I would think if you are 2wd TT spec--what do you call it?(obviously not for recalcerints who have gone back to 4wd!!!)

The only ones that know what a 911 GT2 is are on this board. I had a friend who put 911 GT2 and every AH wanted to know if it was a real trubo! I replaced my turbo with the script "BLACKIE".
Do what you want. I'd put don't F... with this car.
