Default AVOID THIS CAR!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...QQcmdZViewItem

A good friend of mine is looking for a TT. I saw this on Ebay earlier this week and told him about it. Seemed like a great price. Car looks a little low, however, I thought maybe it was just dialed way down with coilovers. I told him to make sure he did a PPI before buying.

He left a deposit with the dealer and had them take the car down to a nearby dealership for the PPI.

The good news: I was right about the coilovers.

The bad news: PPi came out awful. It was in a major wreck (signs of frame damage), and was not fixed right. It also has a host of machanical issues. If anyones interested, let me know, otherwise, I won't list everything here (it's quite an extensive list).

Just wanted to give a heads up to fellow rennlisters.

I think a list would be useful if you don't mind taking the time to put it up, it would certainly be of benefit to those looking for a TT with pointers of what to look for etc.

Terrible to think that the car started just south of 70K.

Other then it needing a new clutch, all the issues with this car are not things that are typical with 993's.

The car was in a major accident and not fixed right. It also had a lot of upgrades that weren't done correctly, such ad bad wiring on the sereo. And not installing the suspension properly.

Bill,

Do you know if the accident is on the carfax? As the dealer listed the car as "Clear and Clean". I'm not familiar with Auto Check report so I don't know how reliable or valued it is but it doesn't show the accident either. I always wonder how valuable these reports are.

Most cars sold thru Expo in Houston have a damage history, regardless if it shows on CarFax

From my understanding, Carfax is clean.

When someone posted that car a few weeks ago a bunch of us noted the low ride height and possibly a different ride height side to side.

I've seen better panel gaps on a covered wagon.

The paint splotch on the VIN label speaks volumes about the repair work....

Even I would do a better job at hiding the wiring than that!
